Yes, I know Halloween is months away, but my summer teaching schedule isn't going to allow much time for making a costume. So I'm starting to work a little on it now. We're going to MNSSHP and I would love to have DS (who will be 2 at the time) dress as a Disney character. However, I don't want to do the usual Mickey, Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, etc. I need suggestions for a more unseen character that would be appropriate for a little one. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

How about a pirate, mouseketeer, peter pan/captain hook, dalmation, Woody or Buzz from Toy Story.

speaking from experience....ANYTHING COOL!!!!!!!!!!! last year it was 87 and humid at night and we were all literally melting hot..my hair was stuck to my face and my make up melted into a blob...DS6 ended up taking his spiderman cossie off...it was sooo warm. I felt so bad for some of the kids with big heavy pirate and cinderella outfits on and they were soaking with sweat....whatever you decide...keep it lightweight and easy to remove or bring a change for the kids incase they get too hot...next year hubby says hes going as a sumo or a baby and only wearing a nappy !! lol..seriosly...be warned...but have a great time...the parade alone is worth it...I just love the gravediggers dance.

we are doing Pirates here is us last year
It started out hot but as it got dark it was not so bad

We've only decided on costumes for my girls, so I'm not much help... Mine are going as Fairies (Tink & Fawn) because it is always too cold for those costumes at home. We've done the party once before with the kids wearing the same Halloween costumes we bought for at home and they were WAY too hot, so this time they're getting special costumes for the trip that will be added to the dress up trunk to play with when we get home.

Record lows of 40ish last year just before Halloween. Lots of people were completely unprepared at the parks in general, but especially at MNSSHP. Better than 90, that's for sure. Come up with a costume that can be adjusted for hot, cold or in between weather. That's the tricky part. Do someone he is a fan of, like a playhouse Disney character. You'll love the party, it's the best special event we've done.

I was so hot last Sept, we bagged our costume at the last minute and wore Halloween Tshirts instead. 88 deg at night is NOT fun. I saw some poor little boy in one of those furry Pooh costumes in that heat.

Thanks for all the suggestions and tips. The weather factor really made me reconsider picking a furry character. I think I've decided to try and replicate the uniform of the Disney railroad conductors. DS is obsessed with trains and DH loved the idea. I should be able to make it so that it's cool enough, but could be layered to be warmer. Thanks again!
