MNSSHP Costume Questions

Hi there!

Currently doing a bit of costume planning for this years party and had one or two questions on whether or not we would encounter any problems if me and my sister chose to go as Elsa and Anna from Frozen. I saw in the costume guidelines that guests that dress as Disney Characters aren't allowed to pose for photos or sign autographs, I was wondering though if a guest had ever been asked to change out of a costume for possibly looking too much like the character (man hoping this doesn't come across as concieted or anything like that just dont want to arrive only to be told to change cause we're confusing the younger guests) Any advice or experience would be really appreciated ^_^

You should be fine. We saw some that were extremely close to the characters At MNSSHP last year, and they weren't having any issues. We saw a Mary and Bert last year who we thought were "real" at first. Their costumes looked identical to what Mary and Bert wear in the parks. They were amazing. We ran into them a couple of different places and talked to them quite a bit in one line, and they were not having any trouble. I'm sure there are going to be a ton of Elsa and Annas of all ages in the park this MNSSHP season.

I don't really know the official policy, and it may really depend on the CMs, but I saw some VERY GOOD Jack Sparrow costumes last year and nobody seemed to mind. Seriously, if this one guy were actually Johnny Depp in the actual movie costume, I wouldn't have been surprised! I can't be absolutely certain that a CM never said anything to them, but for what I saw they were fine being there.

During the party, the normal rules are out the window (although they will still be unhappy if you pretend to be a cast member). You can dress as princessy as you desire. I saw this picture someone posted of their Rapunzel costume they wore to MNSSHP.

These are the guidelines they send out every year:

FOR THE SAFETY OF YOUR CHILD AND OTHERS, PLEASE ADHERE TO THE GUIDELINES BELOW.

Halloween costumes should NOT:
Obstruct the guest's view or interfere with their ability to board/unload from attractions and/or the Walt Disney World Resort transportation system (including monorails, ferry boats and motorcoaches).
Drag on the ground.
Contain sharp or pointed objects or material that may accidentally stike another guest.
Be offensive to other guests.
Contain any weapons which resemble or could easily be mistaken for an actual weapon.

Before someone says otherwise, there is no rule against wearing a mask. As long as your costume doesn't hinder your vision it's good.

As someone who has been to many party and loves the park quality/accurate costumes, it's no worries.

The regular rules are out the window, and you can still take pictures, just do not pretend to BE the character, or sign any autographs. I dressed up as Alice a couple years back and got a LOT of attention from the kids, but would simply say I wasn't actually Alice, it was just for halloween, and point them in the direction where she would be.

I wouldn't be worried about being asked to change as long as you respect character integrity!

As others have said, there are lots of high-quality costumes, some I thought were better than the in-park characters. So long as you aren't holding court, you should be fine.

Thanks everyone for the responses. Glad to know that we shouldn't run into any problems, looks like I'm going to have to start planning out how to make them both ^_^

Good to know info! Hubby, son and I are planning on partying as Ralph, Felix and Vanellope and, while our costumes are pretty fantastic, I highly doubt anyone will be stopping my 3 1/2 year old for Felix autographs! lol

Can't wait for my first MNSSHP!!!!
