We were there last October and will be going back this October.
We didn't do the Halloween party last year, but I think we are going to this year.

We saw some folks coming in in very elaborate costumes and some just in tshirts and such.

We are "ride people" and would probably split time between rides and the other activities... would you go for the costumes or just do fun Halloween tshirts?

I'm torn.

Honestly if I was going for the rides I would skip it. It's all about the shows, special characters for us, don't think we went on any rides. With that in mind we usually dress up. The kids more extensive than us.

We go every year and dress like pirates.. pirate:

However then we use the pirate costumes on the Christmas Cruise we do...

So we recycle the costumes.. Dressing up is a blast!!

We may go for it...
We will be at MK for at least 2 of the 5 days that we are there, so we should have plenty of time to ride stuff.

Thanks for the input!

We are "ride" people too, and we dress up everytime we go. Last time we went DH was Peter Pan, DD-Tinkerbell, DS-Cpt. Hook and I was Smee. We had a blast. DD held her wings and DS held his hat when we rode rides.

We dressed up, but I created our costumes out of everyday clothes. We were able to move around easily and stay cool!

We dressed as pirates and still did the rides :)!

My costume was pretty authentic (corset, etc) from when I used to work at the Renaissance Festival on pirate weekends. DH's was store bought. Either way we had a blast!

MNSSHP was the absolute best thing we have ever done at Disney, hands down.

yay! i am getting excited now!
I'm sure there are lots of pirates around, that's probably what we will do... We have lots of that stuff already (my son had a pirate themed birthday a few years ago).

we ride in full costume every year-nothing like gracefully climbing out of space mountain in a floorlength grecian gown

We do the characters - there are characters that you normally won't see (villians, all seven dwarfs together, etc). And the light parade is very different during the party, it is started by the headless horseman riding along the parade route and the floats are different than the regular parade. Again, there are the ususal Disney characters - but there are also the villians. Photopass pictures are great, there are a lot with added hidden features.

We are "ride" people and are going to our first Halloween party in September, we're doing costumes but nothing too elaborate. We're staying at POP and in honor of that we're dressing as the 60's, 70's, and 80's. Just in normal yet decade specific clothes.

just 2 adults in our party, we're both dressing as pirates pirate:pirate: I think it will be much more fun to dress up :thumbsup2 we're planning on doing characters, shows and parade rather than rides, we will be doing the rides on other days during our trip! :wizard:

We do mostly the MNSSHP events and very few rides, but honestly we wore Tshirts. It was WAY too HOT AND HUMID to weara full costume.

You can do costumes and still be comfortable. Black shorts, white t-shirts with your names on them and mouse ears. Voila - you're part of the Mickey Mouse Club.

This past year I dressed the girls in black tshirts and black shorts and we all had the free face painting done. They were comfortable and loved it!

my husband is kind of a grumpy dwarf when it comes to costumes. Do most adults dress up??? I was thinking about some kind of family themed tee shirts for me, husband, MIL, and DS 10 who isnt into costumes either. Im sure my girls will wanna princess it up! I didnt know there was so much to do either...I just assumed u watched a parade and went on rides without crowds. Can you do rides AND characters/parades???

There is so much to do, it really requires two parties. I went twice last year and only rode Haunted Mansion. The first party was for character meets and the second was for the parades, shows, and trick or treating. I did it that way just in case there were any characters I didn't get the first time; and there were a couple.
