Recently, I mentioned to a friend that I couldn't figure out what costume I wanted to wear to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. They suggested that I wear one of my black/white striped referee shirts (I'm an ice hockey referee), along with a pair of sunglasses, and a white cane.

I can see the humor in the idea, but I worry that some folks would probably be offended by that, even though the intention is to make fun of myself, not at all to make fun of the blind community, it could be mis-interpreted.

Thoughts?

I've seen it done before, but not at Disney. It's probably hard to come up with a costume that doesn't offend anyone.

my kids are blind and I wouldn't be offended by it. I would get it and think it was funny.

My child has a vision threatening eye disease, uveitis, and I wouldn't be offended by it. I think it is very funny. Doesn't this begin to sound like the "feel free to laugh" commercial? Blind refs, pregnant nuns...politicians or clergy with money coming out of every pocket.....i likey. feel free to laugh. :lmao:
