MNSSHP costume advice?

We are going in late September, and it will be our first time at the MNSSHP. I've explained to the kids that the costumes we take will probably not be their Halloween costumes because 1.) I doubt I'll be ready for their Halloween costumes by then! 2.) my kids have got it in their head that we have to have a really creative costume that involves paper mache, etc.

So, I was thinking of trying to sell my triplets on a group costume again. It's been so many years since I actually succeeded on that! So any input for either a threesome or even the five of us that is easily packable for the trip? We do have an old Buzz Costume, but I didn't have luck years ago convincing the other two to be Woody and Jessie, so I doubt that would work now. And other than my one son loving Cars, we don't have any character faves anymore.

I did tell my husband we could be Tom & Kiki plus three (had to change my name from Krista to Kiki to rhyme...he asked me who the heck was Kiki!)

Since its still going to be warm at night in September, how about Mickey Mouse Club? Black shorts, white shirts with your names on them and ears? Or dalmations - get white shorts and t-shirts and paint spots on with black fabric paint. Get white baseball caps and make ears from felt and paints spots on those too.

I was going to suggest the same thing - so cute and easy to do :)

they may like the dalmations....when they were three, they were my dalmations, I was Cruella. They still talk about the dog tags I made for them with their puppy names! I think that may have been the last time I had input on their costumes!!

are the triplets girls or boys, or both?

if all girls: the 3 good fairies
if all boys: the lost boys
if a mix: the little einsteins
if a mix: hannah montana, lily, rico, jackson, etc... (all good and themed together)
if a mix: pirates?
if a mix: wendy, john, michael, tinkerbell, tiger lily, peter pan (all good & themed together that u could just pick 3... or 5)

take them outside on a hot summer day and say this is how hot the MNSSHP will be. It can be VERY HOT, not to mention it can rain (can you tell BTDT? lol)

Love the easy MM club idea. Cute and the whole family can play, plus, nothing that can't take the FL weather :thumbsup2

My suggestion is something very lightweight. We went to MNSSHP in Sept last year and it was too hot and humid for anything but Halloween Themed tshirts

Sorry, should have said....two identical boys and a girl.

I did have a thought last night, that if we are having a good football season (it's been a LONG dry spell for the Irish!), we could do the old standby and the boys could wear their football jerseys, break out DD's Notre Dame Cheerleading uniform. That's a big if, but must have faith. (Don't have much after being there in person to witness the loss to Syracuse last year!)

I can't even use this summer as an example of FL hot! We have had the BEST summer weather-wise! I think when I drove home from church at 10am it was 71, a high of 85 today? SOOO untypical for Baltimore! I could probably straighten my curly hair and it would stay!

We saw a really cool costume a Halloween party at the Monterrey Bay aquarium. It was a family of 5 and they were all Jelly fish. They all had umbrellas and they had iridescent streamers hung all around.

A friend recently did this costume. She got a purple umbrella at WalMart for under $5. then she went to the fabric department and got matching tulle. It will pack easy, you just wear your regular clothes so you will not get hot, and if it rains you have an umbrella.:thumbsup2

How about Phineas, Ferb, and Candace?

We love them. You could even be their mom and dad (hard costumes to pull off so maybe just an appliqued t-shirt would do) or mom and Dr. Doofenshmirtz.

How about Alice and Tweedledum and Tweedledee, Lightweight blue dress with white smock for Alice and red shorts with yellow top and maybe red suspenders or even just painted on red suspenders for the boys. They would just need those twirly hats to finalize it.

It can be both comfortable and not too hot. Don't foget the white shorts underneath the dress.

that's exactly what we're doing...dalmations and we're doing it exactly how you said. figured it'd be nice and cool for the hot night in early Oct.

Irish Trip Mom....how did you make your Cruella costume? I'd be interested in being her rather than Perdita.

For Cruella, I teased my hair out (I have big curly hair in humidity!) I tried putting some powder in half, but that didn't work so well. Black dress, and bought a piece of white fur fabric, which I painted spots on. Gloves. WAAAAY to hot of a costume for Florida! It was pretty hot in Maryland that year, if I remember correctly!!

My sons just voted down Tweedledee and Tweedledum. Of course, they fought over who was Tweedledum....

We did the Mickey Mouse Club costume as a family last year and it was a hit with other party goers and cast members. One of the Disdesigners made us Mickey Mouse Logos with our names on them and we wore black shorts and ears. It was easy, and cheap, and cool to wear! Not sure what we will do this year yet.:thumbsup2

....

Ok, thanks.....it sounds like I should stick w/ Perdita. Yeah, I can totally imagine how hot that furry boa would be! What a great idea though if they decide to be dalmations for the "real" halloween...we're in Ma and halloween nights are usually chilly around here. For now though, my 2 GIRLS want to be Batman and Robin!! :rotfl:

I second the Phineas, Ferb and Candace idea. That is what we are going as, 2 DSs will be Phineas and Ferb, DH desperately wants to be Dr. Doofenshmirtz, and I am going as Candace. DH said that I could be the mom, lol, I am the mom everyday:laughing:. Since they wear t-shirts and shorts anyways it should be cool in case it is hot. I think the Ferb costume might give me a little challenge, but the Phineas one is easy and I might get the Perry stuffed animal also.

what about huey, dewey, and louie (donald's nephews) one blue, red, ang green shirt and matching ball caps. Put the names on front of shirts and they could wear shorts. Seems like it would be pretty cheap too
