MNSSHP 2006, Ready to start planning!

Someone mentioned here a while ago, that there will be t - shirts for sale the night of the party...........do they sell them a little before, or just at the party. I was thinking that the adults in our group could buy and wear those since we arent dressing up.....(against my wishes :sad2: ) Party poopers I say!!!!!! Anyway............just wondering so that we can plan. Also, has anyone seen the designs yet for this year or even have any pics from last year ??? OR..................does anyone know where to go for any iron ons or designs to make iron ons so that we can make our own???? Thanks guys for any and all info.......................

We will be going to MNSSHP Oct. 17. We are really excited! My girls are already talking about what they will dress up as.

I believe the Halloween T-shirts are sold only during the party. If you know someone going to an earlier party, perhaps they could get them for you ahead of time for you to wear the night you go.

A couple more questions that we've thought of since booking this trip?

--Has anyone gone to the first night of the party before?
--Is it any more or less busy, necessarily, than any other night?
--How many tickets are sold for each night of it?
--Are the fireworks worth videotaping? We are bringing DH's camera & monopod, but wondered if we'd wish that we videotaped these as well since it is our one trip during this time period.
--Will the CS place (wherever it will be), be a total zoo? I was able to get ADRs for Tony's at 5:05pm, so maybe we should stick with those?

Ok, I think that is all we came up with so far, lol!

I'll try! :wave2:

The first party this year is VERY early (mid-Sept) so I think it won't be crowded at all. Last year, from everything I read, the first party, Friday Sept 30, was not bad crowd-wise. I think weekdays are less crowded then Fridays but more so as you get closer to Halloween then early in Sept/Oct.

No one knows for sure how many tickets are sold but rumors have it at a max of 20,000 but we just don't know for sure.

I think the fireworks and parade are well worth it to videotape and are my favorite parts of the party!

I would keep the ADR but that's just my preference. I've heard that the CS can be a zoo. For example, when Tomorrowland is kept open for the hour the park is closed Cosmic Rays was crazy and last year when Adventureland/Frontierland was kept open for that hour, Pecos Bills was a zoo. But you could always try a different CS after 7:00p and avoid those two places.

The fireworks are awesome, worth videotaping! I would stay with the seating at Tony's. You will have plenty time to get out before the party starts & not have to mess with crowds at cs. Sorry I can't help with the others, I have not attented a party on the 1st night. Enjoy!

Thanks for the tips!

We have tickets to the first party (sept 15th) so I can report back on our experiences on the Monday following. It will be our first time at MNSSHP so I won't have anything to compare it to, but will do my best.

We will stick with our Tony's ressies and our plan is to just experience the special activities of the night and probably ride HM too. :) Besides that, if we ride anything else it will be a bonus, that's the way we are approaching it.

We'll bring both the camera and the videocam to make sure we get it recorded since we don't plan on coming back (after our dec trip) for a couple of years.

Now we just need to figure out costumes or no costumes......another DISer PMd me with an idea of Jack Skellington, etc.. but I'm worried about it being really hot at that point in time. We are still thinking of just getting some pirate shirts with some custom printing, getting pirate hats or wearing red bandannas and fake earrings, etc... It would be not-so-expensive and we could do short sleeved shirts to keep a little cooler.

I went on the first night last year and it was pretty packed. I mean, it can't be as crowded as a regular day in the MK b/c they only sell so many tickets, however, it still seemd crowded. But atleast the lines for the rides weren't long.
The Fireworks, IMO, were definitely worth videotaping-some neat little suprises at the end that you'll be glad you have on film :teeth:

I posted a few weeks ago the link for Zazzle.com where they have several Halloween themed t0shirts/tank tops/sweatshirts for sale. They aren't as cheap as iron on's-but they're really cute.

We'll be there then, too! DS7 has chosen to be Yoda. I just found his green Yoda light saber at Walmart to complete his costume. DD5 will be Jasmine. They talk about MNSSHP all the time.

IMHO - consider the t-shirt option whether you make them or buy them. Sept. 15 will most likely be hot. I went opening night last year, Sept. 29th, and was glad for short sleeves. I'm from SC and expect warm weather - even in Oct. We felt part of the party due to themed t-shirts yet were much more comfortable than the man dressed in the Disney Store bought costume of Donlad Duck. Roast duck. I did see a family of Fast Passes. They made the costumes, but did a great job. They could have won a contest!

Film the fireworks and consider CP over Tony's. Pecos was a zoo last yr. thanks to party guests herded into that part of the park. I don't like Tony's but my family recently ate at CP and thought it was one of their best meals...who knows.

PS - If I'm wrong about the weather, what better reason to buy a WDW sweatshirt!

We went on 10/6 two years ago. Both girls were costumed (Snow White and Esmerelda). Both wore tennis shoes. I wore slacks and a Halloween themed sweater set. It was so humid that my outer sweater wound up tied around my waist all evening, except for the photo. Looking at it, you can see the perspiration on both my and my husband's face. Going early in the season to me is better than waiting till later IMO. Except for the heat issue, it doesn't appear as packed. I have tons of pics but don't know how to post them here. Whatever you do, don't miss the Headless Horseman's ride before the parade!

 I hope I don't regret it but we are going to go on October 31!
so do they sell the same # of tix EACH night? or will it be a crazy mob scene!
we don't get to the world til that am
I know it was tough to get any ADR's in the park and I ended up with Crystal Palace at 4:50. so we should get out of there just in time to get hearded elsewhere then :confused3 augh.
I think I might design some T-shirts for all of us - I wonder if the kids will be dissapointed - trick or treat around here is usually the Sunday closest to the holiday so therefore we will have done that already - and I really dont' love the idea of either buying 2 costumes per kid (3 kids) orpacking bulky costumes to fly with (its cold in these parts at halloween typically so I buy 'warm costumes' - think fuzzy tiggers :)

Yeah, I thought about doing CP, but DS has a form of autism and doesn't really enjoy the character meals plus I have food allergies and try to avoid the buffets as much as possible.

I figured at Tony's we could find something we liked and it will be a trial run for us since we have ADRs for it again in December on our MVMCP night, lol!

I think we will end up with doing some type of themed shirts for the 3 of us. pirate: That way it won't be a huge deal in packing and we'll be comfortable. I remember our first trips to WDW were at that time of year and it was really hot/humid.

Can't wait for Sept 15th! :)

I bookmarked that site when you posted it the first time :)
It's a great site! I'm planning on getting some VMK shirts for my girls for when we do the In Park Quest.
The thing I love about it is you can pick your own type of t-shirt and the color! I cannot wear regular t-shirts because they feel so confining, so I'm glad I have a choice.
Thanks for the link!

P.S.
Has anyone seen an Ursula costume? I'm thinking of making one, but it cannot be so big and confining. I have some ideas in my head, but if anyone recalls seeing a photo of a DIS'er in a past costume, or something like that, can you post it for me? Thanks!

My local fabric shop, Hamrick's, carries Halloween fabric. I've seen some neat spiderweb net, shiny orange pumkin and purple bat fabric. I've thought about making a coverup of some sort or scarf to wear over or add to a t-shirt. I can't sew, but for those of you who do, I bet you could think of some creative uses for some fabric. :wave2:

My costume is currently in the process of being made...I'm going as a pirate!! :)

I have been reading all sorts of great ideas to decorate our room. I bought a few strands of pumpkin lights last year after Halloween on clearance that I am bringing along to string up in our window or on our balcony. I might look for some Disney window clings, too. I think the kids will get a kick out of a decorated room.

Here's a thread with ideas...http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1101182&page=1&pp=15
