MNSSHP 2006, Ready to start planning!

According to the web site, Tour Guide Mike is going to MNSSHP on the first night (Sept 15) and will post his updates the next day...so if you are a subscriber, there will be a ton of new, 2006 specific information on his site. I'm sure other party-goers will do the same here for us.
BTW, I really enjoyed looking at/reading the 2005 MNSSHP Park Guide! The link is back a few pages in this thread.

Baloo! Your thread last year was SOOOO helpful. 2005 was my first MNSSHP, and with your tips from parties before, everything went smoothly and we had a great time. Glad to see your posts!

Do you think it is a waste of time to attend 2 MNSSHP. My DH and I bought tickets for 9/29 and 10/2. Now all of a sudden he is sorta giving me a hard time about going to 2 parties. He was the one who wanted me to buy tickets for both parties soo far in advance. This trip we will be at WDW for 5 nights 6 days. I think he feels like we will be spending too much time at MK. We normally spend our nights at EPCOT. My reasoning for going to 2 parties was because we went to 1 last year, spent most of our time watching the parades and I feel like we missed out on tons of things. Please give me some advice. :confused3

This is just my opinion, but we went last year and it was great! We got to do a few of the best rides without any waits and saw the fireworks and Parade.
Personally, I don't think you need to go more than once on the same trip. There are so many other things to do with your time then doing the same thing twice. It's a great party, but I wouldn't go more than once.plus, if you're going to the MK again another night when it's not MNSSHP, that is a lot of time in 5 days to go to the same park. But like I said, that's just my opinion. When I have more days at WDW, I like to spread the love to all the parks and then if there's leftover time, do some recreational things. That's tehe beauty of the length of your stay at a place like WDW where's there is SO MUCH to do and so little time to do it!

...The only thing is I noticed you said you already bought the tickets, so unless you plan on reselling them, I think you're stuck with them. I'm pretty sure they are non-refundable. But I'm not positive.

We went to our first MNSSHP last year, and felt like we missed a lot. So this year we're going to two parties, and wearing different costumes to each. For us, seeing Hallowishes and the parade twice is worth spending two evenings at the MK. But I think it's really a personal preference thing...where would you rather spend your time, and how much money are you willing to spend on tickets?

Someone mentioned that there was a link about the 2005 mnsshp schedule of events a few pages back on this board......................however, I CANT FIND IT!!!!! I am going nuts trying to find this. So, if anyone has any info on exactly where I can find it or if you can repost the link, that would be great. Thanks!!!!!!

Help! MNSSHP first timer, DD8, DS7, and DS4. How will they do with the happy haunts? Do most people wear costumes. We will be there early Sept. 16th. What to do??? :confused3

mrsscooter...here ya go! Here's my MNSSHP Party Central post that was the sticky last year!

(ps...I use to be a Moderator here on TPAS until it was all changed around last winter.I could only be a Mod on one board. The Creative DISign Board actually started from a post here on TPAS! )

The dates and ticket prices for MNSSHP are for 2006.

The INFORMATION is from last year,2005 but things basically stay the same each year. I update the information after the first party and finds out what's new for that year.

TIPS
jackolanterns.jpg

The first MNSSHP I attended was in 1995 when DS Erich was 2 years old. There were only 3 PARTIES at that time! We've been almost every year since then only missing the Halloween festivities once or twice. We missed last year due to my mothers illness. :( On my various times I've traveled with a toddler,a Senior citizen in an ECV,a large group, just me and my son, Erich,to now with my DH,Joe,and my DSS,Jonathan. So I've learned a few things along the way that I'd like to share with my fellow DISers.

****Baloo's Top Ten Tips****

1.Except for HALLOWEEN NIGHT do not worry about crowds at MNSSHP. There are a limited amount of tickets sold for this event. Disney is very closed mouth about the actual attendance but the rides are very doable. Fantasyland gets a little crowded earlier in the evening but thins out as the night goes on and little ones wear out! I've never waited more than 15 mins in a ride line at on a party night. The Mts are practically WALK ONS! We've ridden Splash Mt. 3 times in a row without leaving our log!

2.The second parade is less crowded.

3.The best trick or treating is in Toontown! There was an area called Alice and the Mad Hatter's Treat Party. Our bags were LOADED after strolling down this path! We weighed our bags and between Erich,Joe and I we had 15 POUNDS of treats!!!

4.Catch some of the bands that perform throughout the MK lands during the night. And don't be shy to get up and shake, shake, shake your bones like a skinny old skeleton or howl like a werewolf!!

5.Try and see "the special guest" that takes over Tinkers Bell's flight before the fireworks begins. The BEST viewing area is on the bridge to Tomorrowland.

6. I'm not sure he's still there but in Liberty Square in front of the Liberty Bell about 10 min.s before the parade begins "Mr. Knickerbocker" tells the story of the Headless Horseman. When he finishes his tale, the Headless Horseman begins his gallop through the MK. When the Horseman has ridden the entire parade route, the parade begins!

7. Don't feel silly if you're a grown up and want to dress up! Wearing a costume, is part of the Halloween fun!

8. Make sure your costumes are COMFORTABLE and EASY to get around in. You'll be getting on and off rides and do not want anything that is cumbersome.

9.Take time to really LOOK at all the wonderful Halloween decorations throughout the MK especially while strolling down Main Street. You never know where you might see a giant spider crawling atop of a building.Corn stalks and jack o' lanterns and over sized treat bags set the autumn mood.

10.My biggest tip is the day of the party have a light schedule, take a nap or have some "down time" the afternoon of the party! I can't stress this enough ,especially if you have little ones or Seniors traveling with you! Erich (Jon wasn't able to go) was 11 lthe last year we attended and we still did this.Even if he didn't actually sleep he watched t.v. and rested...Joe and I slept! LOL! You want to be able to stay as late as possible because the later it gets the more the crowd thins out.It seems a lot of people start exiting after the fireworks which is shortly after the first parade.

Have a SPOOKTACULAR good time at MNSSHP 2005!!!

Thank you so much for all the info. I can't wait. :woohoo:

Thank you very much for your last two postings. They were a huge help. I still cant beleive how much candy that wdw gives out. I am not surprised by the mass amounts of pixie sticks, either.....................Speaking of pixies.............have you or anyone on this board hear of or know of the deal with "waking up" tinkerbell?? Ok, that was dumb, Of course you guys know this...........any and all info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

You go into Tinkerbell's Treasures ( the shop that is near Cindy's Castle) There is a small chest that looks like a lady's vanity near the front entrance. Over it is mirror that sparkle's Pixie dust every once in a while. If you look in the first drawer's key hole you can see Tink and she's tangled up like in the story.

I cut and pasted this from this thread: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=13423608#post13423608

Warning if you've never seen this thread it is addicting!!! (not to mention takes a long time to go through....)

I thought waking up Tink involved the first child in the store getting to actually wake Tink and start the her pixie dust trail moving through the room - have they changed/stopped it? (Have heard the "stampede" from the rope drop to get there first and be the one picked can turn not so nice). I would not get invovled in that, but would like to watch it happen once, hopefully on a day it goes well!!! :sunny:

We are going on Sept 29th for our first time. It will be me, DH, DD4, DS2, Friend, Friend's DH, their DS4 & DD2. We were recently at the Disney store all together and we decided to just get shirts for all of the adults. (They were on sale for $5 :cool1: ) We got the ones that have a character head on the front and on the back, a phrase. I got Maleficent (It is Halloween afterall!) And it says "Evil Diva" DH got Donald Duck and it says, "@#*$%&" (you know, whatever it is that Donald says when he's mad. lol) I don't remember what they got. Kids will be in costume. My DS2 will be wearing the Buzz Lightyear PJ Pals that look like a buzz costume. (I know he's going to be sleeping in whatever he wears. DD4 will most likely choose one of her princess dresses.

Ok guys, I decided to make a ADR for Tony's b4 the party(6:00, I know we may not be done by 7 but that's ok). For those of you who have eaten there b4 the party, did you enjoy it? were your kids in costume already, and if so did they get messy? Any info will be appreciated, we've never been there b4. Also, I did a search for Tony's & MNSSHP and I saw somethin about it being buffet that night. I asked the CM who did my ADR and she said it's not, is that right?

We ate there before the Oct 2 party last year. Our ADR was at 5:40p and we were done by 6:30p.

We loved it. The atmosphere and the food. Some of the CMs wore make up to look like HM CMs.

It was NOT a buffet.

Yes, my girls were in costume already and they did fine.

We made ADR's for CG the night that we go to MNSSHP and we did the same last year.
Last year, when we were there nobody was in costume during dinner but when we were leaving the restaurant and went into the bathroom to change, there were quite a few people in there as well doing the same.
(Quick fun fact: Not to be a name dropper, well,ok, to be a name dropper: Last year when we went to the Bathroom at CG to get changed into our costumes, we saw Kelly Preston, aka, Mrs. John Travolta, dressing her daughter into her costume! Sorry, but I love Celebrity spottings. It would've been even better if we caught a glimpse of John Travolta himself, but oh well, we should've went into the men's bathroom :teeth: )

Yeah it was pretty cool. Even living in NY so close to the city and often in the city I don't see that many celebs, so little things like that are kind of exciting to share. Haha, who might I see this year? :scratchin

Maybe Johnny Depp dressed in his full Pirate ensemble? (I wish!)
