We have DD15, DS9 and DS1. My friend told me that MNSSHP is more for little kids and that my 9 and 15 year old will not think it is so great. What do y'all think? Also, is it a good time to ride the rides or are the crowds still pretty heavy during the party?

Same friend told me that no one wore costumes, or hardly no one, and that they never saw anyone handing out candy. What is the real deal?

I'm sure they'll love it!

I've never been to MNSSHP before so I'm not sure about the crowds etc.

From what I have heard loads of people dress up (DH, I, & the kids will be!!) and candy is handed out!

Sorry I haven't been much help to you.

We went in 2001 and I do not remember lots of candy, but lots of people were dressed in costumes. What I remember the most was seeing the characters in their halloween costumes, lots of characters, and this is the only time we have ridden splash mountain over and over without having to get off. We went in with our wristbands as others were leaving the park for the day.

We are going this October and my kids will be 15, 11, and 6.

Hope this helps! :cool1:

DH, DS (7 wks at the time) and I went to MNSSHP in October 2005 and loved it. We saw kids of all ages there. Unless your kids are totally NOT into the Magic Kingdom or the Disney "magic", they will love it. Unfortunately, my camera was dropped about an hour into the night so I don't have many pictures to share, but it seemed everyone was having a great time. All 3 of us had bags filled to the top with candy (yes, they even gave candy to the baby when we trick or treated) by the time we left the park. And as we were leaving the park they had tables manned by CM's right outside the entrance to the MK and they were handing out handfuls of candy to everyone that came by. Alot of people dressed up in costumes -- not only the kids, but the adults as well. This was our second time at MNSSHP and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask.

We were there for MNSSHP on Sept 30, 2005. I would say half the kids were dressed up and 1/4 of the adults(including DH and me). We ended up with our candy bags about 3/4 full and we were not actively trick or treating. Most of the candy came from the parade. It seemed to get more crowded as the night wore on. We were there on a Friday night for the first MNSSHP of 2005. So, that may have affected the crowds.

We are going for the first time this year. DS #1 is 17 #2 is 14, DD will be 9 and DS #3 is 7. The big ones are pretty excited! They plan to wear costumes and get tons of candy and ride all they can! They are too funny, and love all things Disney. DH and I may even get into costume. Grandma and grandpa are going also but doubt they will dress up. We are very excited. Hope you have a wonderful time!

We went Me 40 loved it

Dw really enjoyed it

DD12 dressed up and really wants to go back.

48 (Wednesday) and I love MNSSHP. My major complaint last year was TOO MUCH candy. Not sure what it was like a few years ago, but last year was certainly candy filled.

Your kids will love it:

- Great parade
- Great fireworks (Hallowishes)
- Great theming (particularly on Main St.)
- Did I mention candy

We loved it last year and can't wait to go back this year. Too bad the kids will be in school. Oh well. I will bring them back some candy

Haha! You guys are hilarious. Well, the party sounds terrific and not at all like my friend described. Gonna get my tickets tomorrow!!! Thanks for the great advice!

My kids will be DS 14 and DD 11 and they are looking forward to it. DS14 is thinking about just being a surfer dude. Bleaching his hair a little, Hawaiian shorts, shades, nothing that looks too much like a costume, but something he could get away with.

DD is still gung ho about the whole costume idea.

Have fun!

What are the lines like during MNSSHP? For planning our itenerary, I am curious if the kids will get alot of attractions in that night or if the focus is more on the party. Are all the attractions open or just a selection? Thanks to all of you for this great advice!

We went in 04 with a 11yo girl and 13yo boy and they had a blast. Both even dressed up her as tinkerbell him as peter pan (not with tights LOL). At home these same kids would never do such a thing because they are just too cool but at disney they let it go and had a blast. If I had a scanner I would share some pictures. As far as rides we didn't do that many because we were more concerned with soaking up the halloween atmosphere but we did do buzz, stitch, the riverboat, and a few others with no problem.
