MM Warriors - Three Steps to Good Health (As of 11/18)

Robin, this is actually addressed in the Fatigued book Lisa mentioned that we got. If I remember right, he said that some people are unable to have the T4 turn into T3, and some people are unable to make either the T3 or T4. I'd have to find it in the book to be sure if I'm thinking right, but it had something to do with the T3 and 4. He said even if your blood work comes back ok, your thyroid can still be messed up.

Robin and Kathy: I am scanning Robin the chapters and emailing them to her right now. I agree 100% with Kate. Thank goodness, Kate, you got a homeopath who knew what to do.:teacher:

Announcement: Tom says I may not go to Hawaii without him! He didn't seem so adament about Virginia, lol! I told him when Robin gets married we are all going for sure!

Rats, Robin! The file was too long for your email storage. It's 14 pages. I'll try doing it in two batches.

Thanks for emailing that Robin.

Lisa, I responded to Robin before I saw that you were going to scan it.

Off to the holiday festivities!! Catch you all later.

Thanks Lisa! I got it all...cant wait to wade through it and see what I can put together and highlight for my doc. she is really great and never really dismisses anything I bring up with her....except this thyroid thing, which has been kind of a sore point with me...

Tell Tom he better be at my wedding....I want EVERYONE there!!!

Have fun Kathy!!

Glad you got it! You can white out the parts I wrote in the margins for my doc. Sorry. Tom would be thrilled to be there! We've always wanted to visit Virginia, especially in the Fall.

Kathy: I think you missed your calling. You should be one of those people that teach how to shop and spend like 35 cents or something! You could write books and give seminars and make a fortune. Kathy's Inside Tips to Bargains.

I second that!

Kathy you'd be awesome at helping people to live thrifty! There's sites set up for that now like "Thrifty Fun." I wonder if there is a teaching format for people who are good at it like you are?

Thanks guys. I actually learned all of this at hotcouponworld. There are people there who get stuff free or next to it. There are people there who's bill comes to over a 100.00 but only pay maybe 10.00
I am glad to help you all with what I know, although I don't think it's a lot, but every bit helps. I just refuse to pay full price when I can get it cheaper or almost free.
One thing I learnt was you can use a BOGO coupon on a BOGO sale. CVS had Purex detergent buy one get one free. I had online coupons for buy one get one free. So I got all of them free. CVS pays for the initial free one, and purex pays for the other free one. I ended up with about 10 bottles of free detergent on that one.

Natalie - we finally get to see your face! Great new avatar.

Well, it's off to bed for this girl. I'll see you all tomorrow.

P.S. The secretary at the office made a comment today that she could tell I have lost weight. That's the 3rd person to comment! WOO HOO! I guess that's 2 non-scale victories this week!

thanks Bev--and so happy to hear the great comments!!

Do any of you have thyroid issues?

I'm not sleepy so was reading the Other Thread.

Here is a statement from Diane one of them recieved:
One thing that Diane did mention was if you get to end of eight weeks and have done everything according to plan and still not feel you have seen results to check your thyroid levels. I had mentioned I was on medication and she said any issues with my levels could affect weight loss.

They were also talking about raw cauliflower not being good for people with thyroid issues. Cooked is fine. Raw brocolli and spinach can also appearantly cause problems.

I know my doctor said my readings were low one time and then said they were fine the next time. I have blood work done in less than a month and she does everything so this might be interesting.

Think it is time to call it quits for the day. Anoter busy day tomorrow.

Jocelyn--I totally agree that your thyroid could be slowing your progress. Does Diane say that in her book? I don't remember

Good Morning Cathy - You are like me. I love going through all the ads and getting the best deal ever!!! Last year my best deal was the dinsauar KOTA. We got him for $100 and FREE shipping. Unbelievable!! He was $300 and $100 shipping everywhere.

Morning Bev - good to see you too!

Jocelyn -I vote that if we all get to see each other it's at your house. I've always wanted to go to Hawaii, we could stop at Kate and Lisa's house first, but the main event should be in Hawaii!

My mom is extremely brave. This makes 3x of cancer treatments. She had breast cancer when I was 18 (so 23 years ago) and it recurred 5 years ago and now the spine. I believe it is her faith in God and her love for Jesus that keeps her strong. It's truly amazing what your faith can get you through.

On top of having problems with my mom, my daughter had blood in her stool last week so I was dealing with that and the my client (Sony Ericsson just announced a 2000 person reduction in workforce by the end of Q1. So I'm not sure where my job stands, but I have just been so sad for the past week.

Today is my son's 14th birthday. He is such a sweetie and makes me laugh so much. Quite a character.

The only thing I like about November is his Birthday, I cannot wait for this month to be over. (My husband died on Nov 2nd - 5 years ago).

Enough about me. I hope everyone has a delightful morning and may God bless you. My verse for the day actually every day, This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.

Love you all!!

Chat soon...

prayers for mom and daughter (hoping its just hemmoroids (sp)) and your job. happy bday to your son!

Good Morning Ladies and Tom!

Thanks everyone for the well wishes! I don't know what I would do without you guys!!

I am starting to feel better my throat doesn't hurt anymore but now my nose is stuffed up. I found someone to cover my class last night and the one for tonight so hopefully that will help. The sad part is you can workout for 50 weeks out of the year and be down for 2 and when you go back it's like starting from scratch. So I can't be down for to long :eek:I had another Jamba Juice coldbuster this morning, I have to get rid of this cold so I can be totally back on track.

A MM Retreat sounds like fun!! Count me in!!!! Hawaii sounds good :) or California or Virgina or Heck!! Any place but FLORIDA :rotfl: This floridian needs to travel outside the sunshine state!!! and see snow!!!!

We better get on OPRAH before 9/9/2011!!!!

:thumbsup2 Make sure you guys keep drinking your water and exercising!!! Next week it will be easy to get sucked back into the "I'll wait until after the holiday's" trap!
Stay away from it!!! Don't fall for it!!! Don't let 1 day turn into 30 stay focused and tell yourself over and over "I AM ON A MISSION" That's what I have been doing to keep myself focused.

Cindy prayers to your mom from watergirl! :littleangel:

Disney good job on the nice butt!! :lmao: (Zumba said butt)

Mom to Zack, Getting Healthy, Carol-Fish, Lisa, Pony, Seabreeze, Nell, Kater (thanks for the Black Friday Link) and the rest of the gang!
Have a Great Day!!! I better get to work I have some stuff to get caught up on since I was stuck in bed Tuesday. :grouphug:

yay you're feeling better!! You're in charge of exercise at the MM Retreat!!!

Laura - I knw you're here! When is your birthday? New list and all...glad you are feeling at least a little better!!

Bev - I have been getting thyroid panels for the past 5 years, thinking that might be part of my problem...nope, everything was normal every time...I know that you do have to ask for the more detailed panel to be done as there are several different levels they can test...have a cousin who tested normal on the main tests they do, but I think its lilke a T4 or something else that they check, and they caught abnormal reading for her there...she went on meds and lost a ton of weight without even trying...she keeps telling me that even women with normal readings should be treated if they have all the sympoms of thyroid, which I do, but my doc refuses to treat unless she sees something that indicates the need...so no thyroid meds for me...Im still wondering about it though due to my slow losses on MM

A good doctor won't go by your numbers, not really anyway. A lot of the time the tests come back false negative. find another doctor who will work with you--you might just need some armour thyroid and whoosh, the weight just might melt off you too! (hoping new doc will do the same for me!!)

Heading out of here FINALLY...off to the gym and I might just have myself a decaf with Baileys when I get home!!! LOL, I am LOVING that Jocelyn!!!

Only have an 11 hour work day tomorrow...I guess I will have plenty of time to read through the thyroid info!!

I googled Zumba classes and the nearest one to me is over an hour away...DRAT

Someone at work just told me that she thought my arms were looking thinner??? When oh When will someone say WOW, your GUT is looking thinner!! :lmao:

I believe there are two schools of thought on the thyroid. Doctors who are adamant that the tests are the only accurate indicator about thyroid and doctors who are adamant the test are not the only indicator. It's a subject that has a lot of physicians coming head to head and arguing. Depending on what believes a doctor prescribes to, it will be hard pressed to get them to change their mind. Unless of course they are one of the ones that haven't been debating. There are not too many of those. In medical school most doctors are taught to go by the tests. I have thyroid disease, and have since I was in my 20's. I know when my medication isn't at the right dose before the tests start indicating it. The tests do catch up, but in the meanwhile I've often had to live with feeling unwell.

I found a recipe for Kahlua on Bella online tonight. I'm going to post it, but don't think we should add it to the recipes until one of us tries it. I'm thinking of trying it soon, but I won't drink while my parents are visiting. I used to drink to excess when I was young, and my brother and sisters all have problems. I am a lightweight in my old age and want one drink every great while, but anyone drinking at all seems to upset them, so I avoid it.

Well, here is the recipe. If someone else tries it before I can, let me know how it is! :)

To make Kahlua, use:

1/4 cup STRONG brewed coffee
1/4 cup Splenda
1 tsp vanilla
4oz vodka
4oz brandy

My parents are supposed to be leaving tomorrow night. I don't know how long it will take them to drive down. I hope they take it easy. My father is really stubborn. I wonder what day I should start defrosting the turkey? It's about 15 pounds. Maybe tomorrow?

Well, see you all in a while!

Wow, where is everybody tonite? all out on date night? Well my hot date was the gym...feel great now, but sure would rather be on a date with my man!!

Nell - Im game to try the Kahlua recipe...I have a recipe myself that I have made tons of times and its GREAT...might have to drag it out and see whats in it! dont remember there being sugar...definitely know it didnt have any brandy either...I'll let you know! I agree that if your folks are sensitive to the drinking, it would be best to avoid it...you want to enjoy your time with them!! Not sure how I feel about the thyroid thing...I definitely dont want to be on any more meds than I have to, but although I feel WAY better since MM, I could still stand to get rid of a few other symptoms!!! When you start feeling unwell...what specifically feels bad? Just trying to determine if it is anything I feel...I sound so neurotic these days ( I KNOW BEV) but its really all about just wanting to get a handle on everything that is going on with me so I can work it out and get healthy again all over! As for your turkey...what day are you planning to have your dinner? I would allow 2-3 days in the fridge...definitely dont want to leave it out to defrost! Hope your parents have a safe trip and your stubborn father (arent they all) doesnt push himself to make time!

Hi everyone. I'm about ready to go to sleep. My pillow smells great! I didn't know they made pillow spray. It's heavenly laying down in it. It's black currant/vanilla. I haven't had insomnia since I got my package from everyone! Thank you all again.

I worked today on cleaning out the guest I mean "junk" room. we never went in there, it was full of boxes. And I discovered that Chiquita has been using the corner as a litter box. Uggg... and yuck. So... I used a half a bottle of clorox on the room, then has to put the fan on exhaust and close the door because I was getting lightheaded. I let that sit a few hours and just went in to give it a good rinse. I'll do another rinse tomorrow and then clean it with normal floor cleaner. Not that I ever get germaphobic. I'm not at all a type A personality and am frequently a slob, but when it comes to filth I freak a bit. It's my own fault though for not cleaning her box often enough and for not ever venturing in the room to organize it. So tomorrow after all the cleaning is complete I will be able to set up the bed and turn it into a guest room.

I just had an apple and cheese, and I have my yogurt set up for 4.5 hours from now. I picked up some of those sugar free syrups and have been putting a little in the yogurt. It tastes wonderful! I'm making my own yogurt again finally, so it's drinkable, and goes down well during my brief wake up. I'm thirsty anyway by then. I tasted green tea with pomegranate today and it was great! Everything all around is nice.

What is everyone doing for thanksgiving? It sounds like most of us are going to be the cooks this year. I much prefer cooking thanksgiving than going elsewhere most of the time. Last year was an exception as I had made dear friends in Maine. I'm going to make a fairly simple Thanksgiving dinner. Marti wants stuffing, and I have to have cranberry for everyone. I'm thinking of making a crust less pumpkin pie in pudding cups, but I need to pull up the recipe. The turkey is going to be wonderful I'm sure. I love turkey. I was thinking of making the creamed cauliflower instead of potatoes. Marti has to have rice with beans, but I can make a small pan. And of course sweet potatoes. Hmmm.... now that I'm thinking of it, the dinner isn't all that simple! :rotfl: Well, a lot of it can be pre-cooked. I read that some people actually cook their turkey the day before. I don't think I'll go that far. But stuffing, mashed sweet potatoes, etc. can be all set up. At least now I'm able to go shopping and get the things. I'm also looking for really good stocking up sales. Kathy is a huge help with her coupon ideas. I've been slowly going over to that site, and I'm beginning to get the gist of it.

Well, eyes are getting mighty heavy. I'm going to have to catch up with everyone in the morning. I've got plenty to do tomorrow to get ready for the visit. Good night and god bless! :grouphug:

We just got home. Had dinner with our friend who lives in a retirement home. We actually know quite a few people who live there - they are bridge players we see weekly. The place is lovely, but we would have a hard time living there at the moment. It might become necessary some day, but we hope it is far off. The average age is in the 80's and we just aren't there yet!!! The food is served buffet style so you can have all you want, but except for the salad it is not the kind of food we are used to eating. Tried to have a legal dinner, but then had ice cream for dessert. I haven't had ice cream for months, but still wanted something!!!

There were 8 of us - 5 who live there and then myself, Bob and another friend of ours. We all played bridge after dinner. The hostess then had See's candy and a Japanese candy out - I passed on all of those. YAY:yay::yay:

Robin - I don't know how you work those hours. I would have a very hard time with it.

Nell - enjoy your family. They will see such a difference in you.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Love to ALL:love:

Hi Jocelyn - I love the morning "ramble"!! I wish I didnt have to work so much, but times are so tough and people are just so strapped that they arent buying insurance like they need to...most are letting their policies lapse and then running to the phone only when they get caught without it!! working any overtime that is available gives me extra $$ in the paycheck, plus more opportunities to sell more policies...we do make a fairly reasonable base salary, but its the commissions that really make the paycheck! Its not like its hard work, alot of down time on the phones lately which is quite boring...but Im just keeping up with you guys, talking with Ken online when he is available, and even doing my online shopping! LOL I had the feeling that I wanted "something else" last night after the gym too, so broke down and had a 5x5 Atkins bar with my decaf and Baileys!! Oh well, I dont think the gluten free did anything for me anyway...

Nell - sounds like you are energetic and whizzing around doing all the stuff you need to do to get ready for visitors...I cleaned my house intensely last weekend since we also have some out of town company coming next week...its a good reason to have to do that "deep cleaning" I tend to put off!! Sounds like you will have a great time and a wonderful dinner!

Heading in to work, so will be back later!

I admit to spending some time on Kathy's coupon sites too, they are definitely not easy to figure out, but maybe I will get more into it today!:)
