MM Questions

I have a few questions regarding MM, because last year my DW and 2 DD's went for MM (I was down for the count due to bad food), and came to the conclusion that it wasn't really worth getting up that early for. They didn't see too many rides open (although they went straight to Nemo to get in line) and it sounds like it was still crowded. So my questions are: Is it really less crowded than normal park hours? What rides are generally open for MM? Are there set days for MM? :confused3

Thanks!

On MM only Fantasyland rides are open... Peter Pan, tea cups, Alice, Matterhorn etc. Nemo can be open, but it is not a for sure thing.
We had two MM... but only made one as it is sooooo early to get up for! We used it to ride Nemo (which was still a 45 min wait!).

actually, it's most of Fantasyland (Casey Jr, Storybookland Canal and IASW are not part of it) and a few in tomorrowland which does include nemo (along with space mountain and buzz lightyear).

there's a MM super thread around here somewhere.

and yes, it's Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday

hmmmm... when I was there I was told by several CM's that Nemo and Buzz were not a "for sure thing" on MM's.

Here is DLR29's Magic Morning (Early Entry) Super Thread.

I prefer to use MM for the FL rides, and IMO it's definitely worth it! :thumbsup2 You can usually go on 6 or 7 (or more?) rides in FL during the MM hour, and then you are also in a great position to do a Rope Drop for Adventureland (Indy), or get a FP for SM, or get a FP for Splash, or ride Autopia with a relatively short line, etc. Another advantage of MM: while you're touring FL or TL, the rest of DL stays empty. :thumbsup2

HTH :earsboy:

If the question is "Is Nemo worth getting up early"? Then the answer is no. But....

If the question is...."Is riding 7-9 Fantasyland rides (& Buzz & SM) with no wait worth getting up early for?" The answer is absolutely YES.

More importantly Nemo isn't worth waisting the important first two hours of DL (with or w/o MM).

If i tried to ride:

- PP
- Dumbo
- Alice
- Matterhorn (both sides)
- Toadie (& the teacups....but i normally skip the teacups)
- The Carousel
- Pinocchio
- & Buzz twice.

......at 10am....or 3pm....it would take 2 - 3 hours to do those. But during MM you can do all of the above in that one hour.

The only reason i would blow a MM on Nemo would be if i had 3 MMs on my trip. (fwiw on the second MM i would do Matterhorn twice, Alice, Buzz twice & SM if i did the tour above on the first MM).

I have to disagree with hound. When I was at DL... we really had no problems with wait times in FL as long as we were there early (between 8-9ish). We did wait 30 min for Peter Pan... but other than that we pretty much walked on everything else (or waited 5 min). My kidos REALLY wanted to ride Nemo. Waiting until closing was not an option with 3 & 5 year olds and neither was waiting in line for close to 3 hours. We did have two MM but only made it to one... which we used for Nemo. We still ended up waiting 45 min, but it was really the only long wait for a ride we had during our spring break visit... which I was very happy with :)
Obviously it just depends on each individual... just wanted to share a different perspective ;)

"They didn't see too many rides open (although they went straight to Nemo to get in line) and it sounds like it was still crowded."

Well, yeah. If you go to Nemo, by the time you're done with Nemo it's nearly the end of MM, and all the lines have gotten long. If you're going to do Nemo during MM, that's really all you should plan on doing.

Works the same the other way, too, IMO. If you want to ride the rides in Fantasyland, don't expect a short wait at Nemo after that.

To me, it's one or the other, Nemo or FL. But either way, there has been time at the end for us (though I'll admit this was in mid-Sept, a fairly quiet time) to go on Buzz. :)

Thanks for all the great advice (especially the link to the MM super thread)! It sounds like we should definately give it another shot. :thumbsup2

We were there at an extremely busy time 2 weeks ago. We used our first MM to do the FL rides. It was awesome to walk straight onto Peter Pan, because that can build long lines pretty quickly. I really liked that ride. Then we did all the other ones that tend to be slow loaders later in the day. There are lots of old and "kiddy" rides, but they are classic Disney, and some, like Mr. Toad, are original to the park. Alice, Dumbo, Teacups, Matterhorn (which I wish was a FP!) are all ones you can knock off your "to do" list with little wait during MM. It's the only way I'd do them.

Actually we kind of agree, tortugaverde. Getting to fantasyland & riding early (8-9ish) you can ride many of them with little wait. (& it's always best to get those slow loaders like Alice, Dumbo & PP out of the way early).

& if i was at DL with youngsters who absolutely HAVE to ride Nemo, I'd likely burn a MM on it (& I did last trip).

But.... after riding it, I wouldn't burn another MM on it....since i (& my DS 9) now rate it about even with the teacups & below Mr. Toad (& 20 other rides) on our "must do" list.

& if we have an extra MM day (after doing the FL "Tour" on our first MM day), we'd be re-doing Alice, Matterhorn 2-3 times, Buzz 2-3 times & SM during the extra magical hour.....instead of the 40 min. sub ride. :hippie:

(& different opinions & perspectives are always good. :thumbsup2 )
