MM+ never materialized?

Back to the OP's original point after reading several additional comments, I have to admit that I've been looking forward to some of the things that Disney alluded to with MM+ beyond the band itself. I mean, the band is cool but then I was able to do everything the band does with my KTTW card. The only difference was I wear the band on my wrist and I wore the card in a lanyard.

The picture part is okay but I don't see it being significantly different than what was there before. In fact, now that I think about it, I found the current system a bit confusing when we get off a ride. Do I have to touch my band or not?

Other than that, I don't see any other advantages. Heck, they still print discount offers on paper receipts so it seems even Disney hasn't snapped to the possibilities yet. I hope SOMEBODY got some benefit out of all that money that was spent!

How did I have the same opportunity last year when I went to go book a&e at midnight at my 60 day mark and they were all gone for my entire trip?

We could go on and on, but capacity has been and will always be a limitation. One that I actually mentioned.

You have the same opportunity to buy a turkey leg. But if they only made 60 and you tried to by the 61st one, you would be out of luck. But you had the same opportunity. You just missed it.

It is not a lottery. The idea is not comparable.
Only because you refuse to say that they are comparable. Not because they actually aren't, because they are. Riddle me this, Batman....which is the better example of "equal opportunity with differing results"?
  • A lottery where everyone gets to apply for ride space for the day that they will be in the park, or
  • A system where people who are staying on site for 10 days can wipe out the availability of a ride for the day you are going to be there before your turn to book the ride even arises?
You seem to think that the former isn't "equal opportunity with differing results" but the latter is. I'm not understanding your point at all.

But once they perfect the MB system and get rid of most of the glitches, they can expand on it. I'm glad they started out with just a few things rather than try to roll out a Swiss Army Knife MB before it was ready.

That's not the same thing at all. The point the PP was making was that people have the opportunity to pick over the FPs for the entire length of your trip before you can even look at them. This isn't about you being the 61st person in line, its about people being able to buy up all the turkey legs before you are even permitted to get in line.

No, because that is dependent on getting votes.

Come again? Everything we are talking about depends on something. For example, being able to book at 60 days is dependent on staying on site.

Edit to add: And in the same sense that all it takes to gain that opportunity is to spend money staying on-site, votes can be bought as well. :)

How did Disney prevent you from booking a longer trip?

How did they say you could not get an extra booking advantage because they won't let you book that extra day. In that regard, you are the 61st person in line.

I hope so. It would be really cool if some of the things discussed were actually implemented.

You cannot correlate an event over which you have no control to one where you exercise much control. You can't make someone let you be President. Period.

You still have the same opportunity as anyone else to book. If you wait until there is no availability, that's your choice. The opportunity was there.
Every single person who logged on at midnight 60 days out who didn't get a FP for A&E had the same opportunity? If they logged on at their earliest possible time and got shut out, doesn't that suggest that someone else had a greater opportunity? Or that the opportunity for the person who tried and failed was not there to begin with? In this example, there is no "waiting until there is no availability" and no blame to cast upon the person who failed. The system's design failed them. Not their lack of diligence and vigilance.

Yet if I can't afford to stay onsite, I have very little control over what Disney charges. I can't make them accept what I can afford.

(Should I put "Period" after that or is it okay without it?)

I didn't claim a lottery was not "equal opportunity with differing results".

You have taken a situation where you have no control and trying to say it is the same as one you do. One is first come first serve and one is not.

You have the same opportunity to be "first". (Not literally if course before this becomes an exercise in being literal.)

First come first serve is better than treating a piece of commerce as a prize to be won.

And as stated, this is really no different than how legacy was. The start line just got moved and the qualifications adjusted. But the opportunity remains the opportunity.

It's really no different than a lot of other perks. If you're a college student and a concert is being held on campus, many times tickets go on sale to students a couple of days before the general public. If you stay onsite at Disney, they give you some perks for giving more money to them. I don't understand why there's even any confusion over this.

Yet if I can't afford to stay onsite, I have very little control over what Disney charges. I can't make them accept what I can afford.

Your chances at saving the money to do that are likely exponentially more likely than become elected President.

I don't think there is confusion. There is perceived unfairness. But that is self inflicted.

How did *I* "miss" the opportunity that was not present? *Disney* is the one who sets the date I was allowed to make reservations, not me. I was online, exactly at midnight, at 60 days. Precisely the *moment* I was allowed to look for FP+ according to Disney. There were *none* to be had for Anna and Elsa for my entire trip. I did all the tips and tricks listed here. I looked for the latest days in my trip first. I tried to do overlapping windows, booking 1 person at a time. There was *nothing*. How does that come down to me "just missing it"?

Like I said, I'm not passing a value judgment. It's not about good/bad/whatever. But it isn't equal opportunity. When you sign online at the very second that Disney allows you to book, and the capacity is already gone, then it isn't the *same* opportunity that others had.

I wonder how long it would be? I saw no differences in the website, app, or magic band usage from my stay in October 2013 to July 2015. No progress in 18 months doesn't bode well for future progress. I think they have moved on...

Yet every child born in the United States has the "opportunity" to become President. The discussion about "opportunity" has become circular.
