MM & EE, maybe a confusing question!

So now I'm considering to split our next Disneyland stay to staying half on site at Grand Cal and half at a good neighbour hotel. My question is, can I 'save' my MM to use in the 2nd half of our trip when we are staying off site, as whilst at the Grand Cal I can use EE. Or is your MM used as soon as you go into Disneyland Park no matter if you are a Disney hotel guest? Its a tough one I know but you all seem to be experts so maybe someone will know!

My understanding is that you can use your MM (that you get as part of a 3+ day hopper) whenever you choose. While you are a guest at a DLR hotel, you use your room key to get access to EMH. So yes, I would save your MM for use while you're staying offsite

But they would still swipe your DL ticket also wouldn't they? If I can use it when I like, its sounding like a good plan

When you stay onsite, you're using EE, not MM, so that MM should still be available for you to use for your off site stay. Not sure what the technicalities are with how it actually works, but I'm sure if you asked one of the CMs at the gates they could explain it for you.

Personally I would do the GC stay last - end on a high note. If you go there first you'll probably be disappointed with whatever your next hotel is.
