MLB Opening Day

Ok, so its the 8th inning and the Yankes are up 5-3 but its like the Braves arent even playing this inning. They've commited 2 errors and had a wild pitch all in 1 inning!!!!

now its 6-3 yanks

The Padres are playing terribly. And it gets better. Manny comes out of his suspension to play the Padres on July 3. Great. :sad2:

I hate the D.H. You should have to play on both offense and defense to play baseball. The national league will win the All-Star game this year!!!!!

Giants just lost the game
Nice job.

Pablo Sandoval hit 2 home runs. We need to keep him around for a long time.

Mo Rivera is just 1 save away from 500. Yankee fan or not you have to admit the guy is amazing and well deserves a great place in history. Also, a lot of people agree he's the best ever, most postseason saves and most saves in A.L. history

Mo Rivera is no doubt the best closing pitcher ever to play the game.

The only guys I can see be on the same level as him are Joe Nathan (Twins), K-Rod (Mets), and Joakim Soria (Royals.) I don't get the hype about Papelbon.

Papelbon was good in the 07 playoffs so everyone started to think he was as clutch as Mo:rolleyes:

K-Rod will always be in consideration because of last season

And of course, Hoffman. He's good but he doesnt have the playoff record and his pitches arent anything outstanding.

I really think the only shame of Mo's career is he might never win a Cy Young

I think it's a toss-up between Rivera and Hoffy. Hoffy I think has had less save opportunities due to the terrible teams the pads have put up particularly in the early 2000's. But the fact that he still can save these games with not the greatest stuff shows a lot. Rivera has been CLUTCH in the playoffs. In my mind, they are both clearly first ballot hall of famers.

I would give it to Rivera. Saves in the post season are HUGE. He does it really w/o a signature pitch.

Also....
Giants beat Brewers 7-0 to take the lead back in the NL Wild Card.

Well, Rivera did it. On the same night he got his first career RBI (walked with the bases loaded:thumbsup2).

After the game he's still just standing listing all the closers better then him. Then Posada came and said that Rivera is the best pitcher he's ever caught for.

All this why the Yankees swept the Mets:)

Something thats also important to keep in mind is Mo pitches in the A.L. East, the most competative division in baseball.

Another stat I leanred today, there's only 3 players with more then 1 home run against Rivera and they all have 2 hr's. So, no player has more then 2 home runs off him

His splitfinger fastball is easily his signature pitch. Homer Bailey recently added it to his repertoire and said he watched some videos of Rivera to attempt to get everything correct when he threw it.

I know, I found that out after I watched the special about him on Sportscenter. lol

Its very very hard to win a Cy Young when your a closer though.
Its also rare.
There is going to be some wicked HOF classes going on soon.

Anyone can sweep the Mets.

3 of their 4 Core players are down.

(Core players are guys that you build teams around, or are centerpieces of the team. Like for the Yanks: Tex, A-Rod, Jeter, Cano...that would be their core.)

gotta love it, the White Sox shut out the N.Siders yesterday to win 2 out of 3.

funniest thing seen all weekend: Some fans at the game in caveman makeup, and outfits, also wearing cubs uniforms, carrying a sign that said "last cubs world championship team." :rotfl2:
