Just when I thought I had everything just how I wanted it for our FP day tomorrow.....I realized that our Friday at MK (8/30) has a 7 am EMH. Not sure how I missed that, given all the hub bub over the infernal Star Wars Land opening, but I did.

Thinking it was an 8 am opening, I had us arriving at 7:30ish and going directly to Frontierland and Adventureland. We will have had a full day and an evening at MK already so we're going off our normal morning attraction-only schedule and doing a mid-morning CP breakfast after a few attractions. I was planning to get FPs for midday/early afternoon. (DH and I get a little nostalgic about early mornings on the "left side" of MK. When our DSs were little, we would always do a PPO CP breakfast then go directly to Magic Carpets. Mornings on that side make me happy!)

So now, I'm in a quandary. If it was just me, I'd get up and be there to RD EMH, but it will be our 6th day of early mornings and a couple later nights so I'm not sure I will get the troops going.

First, I will preface what I'm considering doing with this.....yes, I know only Fantasyland and Tomorrowland will be open from 7-8. Yes, I realize we will be wasting EMH time. Yes, I realize people will have been there for a while and done a lot of things. Yes, I will try to get everyone up and out so we can ride Space and Buzz before 8 am.

If we were to arrive at, say, 7:30 after a 7 am EMH RD with a plan for going straight to Frontierland at 8 am, what would we be looking at? I assume those areas are roped off until 8 am? Would we be able to just go over by IASW and wait? I don't think we have ever done a morning EMH at MK so I'm interested in how it works in transitioning to regular opening.

Thanks in advance for the info!

I arrive 8/30 and am disappointed in ALL early mornings at every park. Sheesh, we are supposed to be on vacation!!!

Honestly, dd and I just wing it. Know if the app showing low lines, your eyes say its not busy head for rides while park is open. If it looks insane then wait for Front/advent lands.

Also it could be storming etc.

Have a basic "must do list" and a "would be nice to also have" list and see what works that day.

For us? space is always a must for dd!

If you arrive at 7:30 and still want to ride Space and Buzz, you won't be in position to enter Frontierland at 8:00. If you arrive at 7:30 and forego Space and Buzz, you can find your spot on the hub at the rope that leads that way and head on over. You'll miss the EMH, but I don't think the "crowds" heading to Frontierland will be much different than if the park opened at 8:00.

Thanks! If we didn't get there at 7, we'd just wander and be ready to head to Frontierland at 8. I appreciate the info!

We have gotten to 7am EMH during Spring Break at 7:30an, and it wasn’t as terrible as I thought it would be. Space will be packed. Buzz is harder to say, but it does pick up spill over from Space. FL, except 7DMT and PP shouldn’t be bad. You should be able to wait by IASW or the rope to Frontierland near the hub.

We will be at MK that day also and will also be our 6th park day. We are doing the After Hours the night before so we are going to sleep in for us (7:00) and get there around 9:00 probably. Doing MNSSHP that night so we plan on doing a lot of shows and longer attractions to "rest" :) So if you see someone asleep in an attraction that day it will probably be us.

I'll look for you in Hall of Presidents and wake you when I wake my husband! LOL Happens every time. 💤

same schedule, same issues. It's my last day 8/30 and with non-morning people (2 teen boys) i have to just accept they're not getting up that early plus our flight leaves very very late. night before, dah i can't decide on because i just don't think i personally can be up at 1 a.m. then getting to bed past that. i'm an early morning riser. and yet feel conflicted because it's a vacation and i should do things/routines/ etc. out of the box and just enjoy. i'm also trying to keep those two days playing by ear because of swe opening. so while it's very difficult for me, i can't plan for 8/30 or 8/29. just have to accept that and try to decide last minute which i hate doing but that's more realistic for the whole group.

Is there a reason why magic kingdom is opening an hour early that week? Is it just to help with influx of people coming to see star wars?

8/30 is our last day too. I could have sworn it was 8am EMH at MK and just now realized it’s 7am. 🤦🏻‍♀️ We had a late night planned for 8/29 but now I am thinking we will go to bed early and try and be at 7am EMH to do FL rides. We are staying at CR so at least we can just walk right over sort of last minute. I have never been to an opening that early, and from everything I’ve ever read it sounds like that hour could be low crowds. I highly doubt anyone who traveled to WDW just for Star Wars is going to be up that early to go to MK. I had our regular FP booked for after lunch that day, but I think now I will move them all to before lunch, and plan for a long afternoon nap/break. We have an ADR and CL FP at DHS that night. Hubby specifically asked me to plan it that way because he thinks that will just be able to go walk around SWGE. 😂 I’m not trying to argue with him, but I think our last day is going to be an interesting one.

I’m glad I’m not the only one that just realized it was a 7 am opening! Good thing we know to always check and check and recheck the hours!

As for your hubby’s plan, I had the same idea when they first announced SWGE’s opening date. Just go in and walk through. I’d like to see it but that’s about it. Who knows...might work out! For your sake, I hope so. As for me, we are done with DHS by Tuesday. Peace, out. Good luck to those who venture in!

Animal Kingdom is also opening early for EMH that same time. The only park that doesn't have early AM EMH that week is Epcot. It will be really interesting to see how the park crowds are the first few months after SWGE. I think the DIS' recent podcast about people staying away and all the discounts could mean that WDW resorts aren't as crowded as they'd like. Not sure how that translates into park level crowds but it will be interesting to see it unfold.

They are going from five AM EMH/week to 22. The people who are crazy enough to get up that early on vacation (✋) will be spread across three parks instead of crammed into one, so the EMH crowds will be much lower per park than usual. Plus, if DL is any guide, the parks will be dead. I wouldn't sweat it.
