MK- which attraction first?

Just curious as to what others visit "first" at Magic Kingdom? I haven't really read up much on which attractions get crowded/how fast they do. I've read that Peter Pan usually has long wait times. We will have 4 princesses in our group, 7,6,5 & 3 y/o. I'm afraid they will want to head for the castle first, forget the rides.. I would love to go right to Splash Mountain, but my kids happiness comes first. Just curious, how wet do you get on SM?? Do you need to wear Ponchos when you ride??

Peter Pan is a Fastpass ride now, so you shouldn't have to worry about the long lines (and yes, they can get long).

As for which ride to do first, that should be a personal preference. We always head for Pirates of the Caribbean first, as it is a family favorite. Just remember, this is a place for relaxation and enjoyment, and many things cannot be "planned" as well as they can be spontaniously experienced. Really, the only things we actually plan out now are which resort to stay in and Priority Seatings for sit-down meals.

I think my first is usually Cinderella's Carousel. But what really makes me feel I'm at WDW is when I hear them "Paging Mr. Morrow, Mr. Tom Morrow. Your party from Saturn has arrived. Please give them a ring."

Crowds usually roll in and bare right towards Tomorrowland. With your kids, I would head straight to (and through) the castle and do fantasy land first.

Depends on whether we are there for EMH or just a regular day. If it is
EMH, we start in Fantasyland, and grab a FP for Peter Pan, and ride Pooh, Snow White and Small World, when it is open. Then ride Peter Pan, and head to Tomorrowland to grab FP for Space Mountain, and while waiting, ride Buzz Lightyear and the Teacups. By that time, the rest of the park is open and we head over to Frontierland, and ride BTMRR and Splash Mountain, then head across the park and ride Space Mountain. Grab FP for Stitch. By then it is time for lunch. After lunch we do Pirates, Haunted Mansion and Mickey's Philharmagic, Stitch... then it is time to go!

If it is a non EMH morning, we head to Frontierland first, ride BTMRR, grab FP for Big Thunder again, and ride Splash, then use FP for Big Thunder (that is my favorite, can you tell?) After we head to Haunted Mansion. Go through Fantasyland, and if the lines aren't ridiculous pick up a few rides there. Then to Tomorrowland and grab FP for Space Mountain. After that we ride Buzz, TTA, Pirates, then head back to Space MOuntain, ride it, grab FP for Stitch and head back to catch Mickey's Philharmagic and a bite to eat. Then it is time to ride Stitch, and if it happens to be the right time, we will watch the parade, and leave for the day.

As you can see, we don't go during crowded times, so it is easy for us to be able to accomplish alot in a little time!

with 2 little guys we had headed straight for Dumbo and then Winnie the Pooh. Peter Pan and Snow White would be higher on my list with girls the ages of yours.

Since our kids will be going for the first time at 6, 4.5 and 3, we will go through the castle, admire it for a few minutes, then go to Fantasyland where we will ride Dumbo and the Carousel. We might pick up a Fastpass right before to ride something else so that when we're done with Dumbo & Carousel we can almost walk right on. Winnie the Pooh will be high on the list. Also Peter Pan for our 6 yo DS. We won't really know what else we're going to do until we see how the kids handle the tamer rides.

We will likely do MK in about 3 mornings so we won't be rushed. Day 2 will be Frontierland and Adventureland, and day 3 will be whatever we didn't do yet! We might be able to fit Tomorrowland and Toontown on day 1, and Liberty Square stuff on day 2. We'll be totally flexible because we will have lots of time. We don't plan to wait for more than 20 min for anything, so if the lines for an attraction we're dying to do are too long all morning, we'll do it first thing the next day we come when we know the lines won't be bad.

Our first ride last trip was Pooh. This year it sounds like our boys want to do either Buzz or Peter Pan first, we'll see.

Dumbo and carosell soon as park opens then Pooh, Snow white and peter pan, Philharmagic, IASW...then pick a direction after that and work your way around...I wouldnt do much back tracking....Thats how we did it 4 straight trips and are usually out of FL by 10:30 headed to toontown....then Tomorrowland, Adventureland, frontierland, then HM around dark 30....

We're planning on hitting Buzz 1st and then on to Fantasyland. Would love to hit Splash Mt. first thing, but with 2 seven year olds, am hoping to warm them up before we go over the top!

Dumbo is THE slowest loader in the place! (Well, it sure seems like it...) My DD and I always head to Dumbo first, before the place gets mobbed. That's my DD10 favorite attraction.

Thanks everyone for telling me your favorites & giving your tips I'm sure our 4 princess will make a bee-line for the castle but we'll see. I really just don't want to be overwhelmed, which is what I'm afraid will happen. We are staying offsite, so no EMH for us We are going in Oct however, have 4 day php, also, intend to get tickets to MNSSHP. (and not use that day as a Park day.) So, we plan on spending a whole day at MK, a whole day at MGM, 1/2 day at AK, 1/2 day at Epcot, then we have another day to go back to whichever park(s) we liked the best. This might be our one and only trip, I hope my little 's are up to making the most of it..

We think the absolute best reason for EMH is MK Fantasyland.........practically the only way to do it!

well, we'd fastpass Winnie Pooh, do Dumbo, Philharmagic, fastpass Peter Pan, ride Pooh, Small World and Carrousel, and then Peter Pan.........head fastpass Splash, do Country Bears, Woody's Meet and Greet, ride Splash.............okay, I'll quit, but I'd make a plan similar to that..........get there as soon as you can, do Fantasyland first, then Frontierland.............then maybe Toontown, Adventureland, and Tomorrowland late.

Depending on the lines, either a FP for Jungle Cruise and then POTC or the other way around.

We ALWAYS do POTC first. And it seems that every time we go the line always goes really quickly even if it's a busy time of year. That's our tradition though, POTC first and then we just do whatever ride from there.

It all depends on who. In my family (forgenerations) the first ride has always been Space Mountain!

dolphindan1 - do you find getting to Toontown around 10:30 a good time or are the lines already long? My plan was almost identical to yours, but I could not decide whether to go to Toontown right after or head to Tomorrowland first. Then we would go to Toontown around 2:00-3:00, maybe when the parade is going on (although the official website does not have an afternoon parade listed for March).
