I went to the MK with my best friend and her 2 kids in 1985. We went on some kind of a water ride (log flume?) that was pretty mild, not scary at all (I don't do Splash Mountain kinds of rides!).

Does anybody remember this ride--the name or theme? Is it still there? DH and I were at WDW several times in the last year but spent most of our time at Epcot--but we did do a fair amount of wandering around the MK and I've looked at the map--nothing looks like the ride I was on in 1985!

No Potc and and SM are the only real water rides there unless iam forgetting one

I was there in '85 too but I don't remember any ride from that description. Small World, POC, or maybe Maelstrom in Epcot? Maybe you were at River Country?

Maybe 20,000 Leagues. You would ride in a submarine though and go under the water.

I think there used to be swan boat rides in front of the castle.

There may have been a log ride at River Country.

Thanks for all the responses. It was definitely not Maelstrom, Small World, or 20,000 Leagues. It's possible it was an earlier version of POTC--the last part of the ride (a downward slope to the flume) was outside. Not Swan Boats. Maybe River Country!

Are there any websites with historic photos of now-closed WDW rides??

To my knowledge...there has never been a log flume ride in WDW.

Are you sure it was at Disney? They do have a flume ride in Busch Gardens.

EsmeraldaX: There weren't any "rides" at River Country. Only slides and stuff.

The only water rides/boat rides at MK in 1985 were POTC (which is an all-inside ride), the JC, IASM, 20,000 Leauges, and Liberty Bell/Square Riverboat. Am I missing any? River Country did not have a boat ride that I can recall. There was a winding river that you rode in an innertube. SM at MK did not open until 1992. Are you sure you are not remembering the Living With the Land boat ride at EPCOT's Land Pavilion? That doesn't go outside, but it does go into a greenhouse.

in almost 20 years passing, ones memory can play tricks on you.
I have a friend that will swear up and down that SpaceShip Earth had a roller coaster inside. He really remembers this.

It's true that your mind plays tricks on you after 20 years :-). I am not positive it was a flume ride--I just remember it was a water ride with a gentle "roller coaster" feel to it, similar to Maelstrom (but not Maelstrom, because we only went to MK, not Epcot). I guess the ride I am most likely remembering is POTC.

During my last visit I heard some guests as they got off Spaceship Earth discussing the ride...."it was better when they had the roller coaster in it."

I wanted to correct them, but I let it go.
