It felt like Christmas. I couldn't believe how packed it was today. I thought this was a low crowd time. :lmao:

Here is a picture I took.

I wonder why it's so crowded these days?

I don't know. I thought maybe because people want to see the new fantasyland? We talked to a cast member today and he is even shocked at the crowds.

We are here now as well, and it is way busier than we anticipated. However, we planned well and aside from a bit if crowd dodging tonight, so far we've done everything we've wanted with little to no wait

Hollywood Studios was fine today...was maybe about a "3" or a "4" when we left around 1:00 PM this afternoon. Walked on Toy Story, Rockin Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror, all 3 by 10:00 AM. Then Star Tours & Muppets...walk on/walk in...then back for our fastpasses on Toy STory...early lunch...Star Tours...Indiana Jones and done, out of the park around 1:00 PM.

We went back for the 7 PM Fantasmic, arriving at the theater at 6:00 PM. They didn't close the theater to additional people until very close to show time (there was a 2nd showing at 8:30/park closing time.)

Magic Kingdom did have the late extra magic hours today, so Disney hotel guests who did not have park hoppers would all choose the Magic Kingdom today for maximum park hours...that probably made it a bit more crowded, too. Don't know if you saw any of the BTG there at Magic Kingdom...though a lot of them were at DHS today they did not seem to swamp anything we were interested in, though.

Yeah I think it was just the wrong day to be here. We are going back tomorrow and it should be good. Even if it is crowded I do still love being here. :goodvibes

We were at DHS in morning and hopped to MK in evening just to play Sorcerers and goof around a bit, but it was still pretty busy :)

Well, my guess would be these are the Mardis Gras crowds rolling in, mixed with tour groups still being there, mixed with all the cheerleaders there for the competition. Most people are going to want to hit MK on their first few days and its a weekend. All of these things combined could account for the crowds. Go to easywdw and follow Josh's recommendations for what parks to do what days and you should be able to dodge the herds.:)

And it's Sunday, so there's lots of locals getting in a good look at the FLE...

Epcot was crowded today as well! A large line for Nemo at 10 a.m.! Tons of cheer groups & every LSU fan was here today too. World Showcase was better tonight though.

We were there last week and we were shocked at the crowds in every park, every day, except for last Wednesday at Epcot which was semi-"normal," yet still 60-75 minutes at TT and Soarin all day. We went with friends who go the same week every year for the past 6 years and they were just as shocked. Our resort was sold out every night, lines for food were long until closing time. On Tuesday we ran to ETWB at rope drop and still waited 45 minutes. At rope drop at DHS Monday we ran to TSMM and waited 40 minutes for a ride, got fast passes but they were already for like 1pm. Second Fantasmic that night was almost as packed as the first. The line went all the way down to the main street. I'm jumping on board with the "there is no longer a slow time of year" crowd lol.

ETA: This was Tuesday 2/5 right after we had lunch at BOG. Picture taken towards IASW and Peter Pan, which was running at least a 45 minute wait, probably closer to an hour.

Anyone know Shen the cheerleaders are likely to go home? When does their competition finish? Going to be at disney world 18th for 12 days. I was expecting crowds around that week but worried its going to be even worse now. I was hoping the last week would be quiter.

Was there this past Saturday and while we expected crowds, it was crazier than we expected.

There was a 15 minute wait to get fastpasses for the Little Mermaid and by the time we got to the machine, the wait time for the ride was 120 minutes. Fantasyland was just a mob of people and there was plenty of cast members out directing people to stay to the right.

I'm going again today with friends and I'm definitely hoping it's not as bad.

I think that all the families who were planning on visiting for President's week decided to go a week early to avoid the crowds! That's my story and I'm sticking to it!
See you all on Saturday!

According to EasyWDW MK won't be any better on Monday that it was on Sunday. They show both days as days to avoid the Magic Kingdom. If you can do the Magic Kingdom on Wednesday, it is shown as the best park for that day.

I sure hope that is the case! We will be there Presidents week!

We just got back from our first WDW trip last night and I have to tell you, if this is the "slow season" then I don't want to know what busy season looks like... Even Wednesday at MK was way more crowded than we expected.

Saturday at MK was absolutely insane. We waited almost 2 hrs for Dumbo, which kept breaking down (big mistake on our part, and we gave up). I realize that a Saturday might not have been the best day for MK b/c of the electric parade, but I just could not believe how it was wall to wall people all day. We were able to escape to Adventureland during Wishes for a break but, WOW, Feb was a lot busier than I expected.

I do beleive that the cheerleading and field hockey competitions greatly affected the crowd levels. Also by Friday, I did see and meet a lot of people from Louisiana/Missisippi who were there for Mardi Gras. There were also a TON of tour groups at Epcot on Thursday!

Anyway, I'd still rather go at this time of year than in the summer with the heat. We still had a great time and I can't wait to go back!

I don't know about the whole thing, but I know middle school aged cheerleaders are done now. I've seen lots of Facebook posts about local middle school cheerleaders winning this or that in the competition. They're heading back home now or tomorrow.

How's the weather? Winter weekend crowds seem to vary wildly depending on the weather - a warm day, especially after a weekend or two of lousy weather or just after a holiday/seasonal pass blackout period, can go from 3-4 crowds to 7-8 with the influx of locals on spur of the moment visits.
