this is probably a stupid question, but... we are going to be at MK and then have dinner at the poly one night. We have never been to WDW so we are unfamiliar with the transportation system. Can we walk to the poly or take the monorail or what do we do? Also, we are staying off-site--do we have access to the WDW transportation?

If you tell them (if anyone asks, which is unlikely) you are going to the Poly for dinner you should be able to ride the Resorts monorail from MK to Poly. There is also usually a boat launch to Poly.

Poly is right next to the TTC, so you could also take the "regular" monorail, or the ferry boat, to TTC, and walk to Poly.

You could take the monorail or the water taxi to the Polynesian, in fact, the water taxi may even be faster, and it is a very pleasant ride. Sometimes the monorails don't smell too good;)

If we have a rental car and decide to leave MK and come back to the Poly later-can we park there?
thanks for all the help!!

Yes, as long as you have PS for a restaurant in the Poly, you can leave the MK parking lot , go and park at the Poly, and they will issue you a 3 hour parking pass. You CANNOT, however, go to the Poly, park your car, jump on the monorail, go to the MK all day, and eat at the restaurant that night. It is a BIG NO-NO!!!

If you drive to the Poly, they'll probably give you a 3 hour parking permit, so you wouldn't be able to go to the MK for long. The parking lot for the MK is right next to the Poly, so you won't be far away, regardless.

We drove to the Poly for dinner our first night, just 10 days ago or so. The guard did not issue us a 3 hour parking pass, just waved us right through. We did have our Disney Institute parking pass in the window.

I guess it depends on the guard and how busy the resort is at the time.

The monorail or the boat (which services the Grand Floridian & the Poly) are the means of WDW transportation between the MK & the Poly. We used both last week - took the monorail during daylight & the boat back at night after the parade (the line was shorter than the monorail). A friend with us was visiting WDW for the first time, & she like the boat ride at night to see the castle lit up at night.
