I'm not having any luck trying to get through for the illusions cruise. The reps at Disney say The MK cruise is special also and think it's as good , if not better than illusions.
Is the MK cruise worth it ? It just bothers me that I can call and get a boat for the MK fireworks cruise at anytime like I did today and be on the phone at 7:00 am and not get a boat for illusions.

Any thoughts?

It may be that the Illuminations Cruise is VERY popular and has been around for quite awhile so more people know about it. It also puts you almost in the middle of the action during the fireworks, right under the bridge between UK and France, while the Wishes cruise is, of course, outside of the park. We have done the Illuminations cruise several times and have always loved it. We have the Wishes cruise planned for this trip and are looking forward to trying it, as well as seeing the Electrical Water Pagent from the water rather than from the beach of the Poly.

We did the MK Wishes Cruise in March and I couldn't imagine a more perfect evening. It was spectacular and relaxing and beautiful. I'd definitely scoop it up if you get the chance. I worried I'd be missing out on the IllumiNations Cruise but this was so great I can't even imagine the other would have been better.

We love both of the cruises and we try to do atleast one on all our trips. I think the reason it is harder to get Illuminations cruises is because they can only fit a few boats under the bridge. The Wishes cruise has plenty of room for more boats (the boats are just out in the lagoon).

My family did the Wishes cruise in May. I didn't realize how HUGE the fireworks were until I watched 'em from the boat.

I think the wishes cruise is actually better because depending on the way the wind is blowing instead of seeing illuminations you could just be getting facefuls of smoke. I am very conserned about this on out trip as dh has had surgery in the past few months and som eassociated breathing problems.

I've done Illuminations eight times and Wishes once for a fireworks cruise. I think that says it all. With the new higher pricing I would have a hard time with a Wishes cruise. I'll be going on my ninth Illuminations cruise in October. We have never had a smoke problem, but I do hear from these boards that it can be a problem.

I so much prefer being at the castle for the Wishes fireworks; I can't say the same about Illuminations. I prefer the water view over the land view for Illuminations.

If I wanted a fireworks cruise bad enough, I suppose I would go on a Wishes cruise. I just feel you are too far away from the action. For the money, I think you could do just as good at the Contemporary to see the MK fireworks from afar and have a great meal at the California Grill, as well. The only good thing I have to say about the Wishes cruise is that our grandchildren were allowed to drive the boat for a few minutes each. For them, it was big stuff.

We are probably the only family that goes to WDW to say this, but we are just not big illuminations fans so I have never even tried to book a cruise. We love the fireworks at MK and I booked a fireworks cruise as DH's birthday suprise. We really loved it. It was a beautiful night and the stars were out. It was dark sailing around Bay Lake and so peaceful after a day at the parks. We had a wonderful captain too. We parked and watched the fireworks and it felt like they were there just for us. The fireworks do seem so much bigger and we could hear the music.
While the fireworks are wonderful in front of the castle, we really loved getting away from the crowds for our own private show.

One of the things I love most about WDW is that with each visit we can experience most if not all of our traditional favorites, and always try new things to see if we can find some new favorites. I love trying something new and keeping my mind open to enjoy something different. That's why we have been trying new resorts the last few trips. We still have our favorite, but how do you really know if it's your favorite if you have nothing to compare it to? In the process, we have many new favorite catagories for lots of reasons, instead of just "favorite hotel". I feel the same way about rides, attractions...and cruises. If it's too difficult to get an Illuminations cruise, try the Wishes cruise this trip and the Illuminations cruise nest trip. Also, I am using a TA for the first time this trip and I think it's much easier for them to get those "hard to get" ressies, but having done the Illuminations Cruise several times, and enjoying it, we decided to try this one. Each one of us had different tastes and likes/dislikes, and that's why I'm glad there are so many choices!! :wizard:
