MK Rope drop

What time do you think I should be at MK tomorrow for rope drop with a 8 am opening?

7:15 - 7:30. Plenty early enough unless you have some business to conduct (picture taking on Main St., Starbucks, etc). We really enjoy the time before rope drop just looking at the Main St windows and being in the Hub...

Are they not opening the parks early? I was under the impression that they were opening 30- 45 min before posted opening times?

I caught the earliest bus between Pop and the MK twice last week, arriving slightly before 7:00 a.m. with an official opening of 8:00 a.m.

Both times the bus was held until 7:00 on the dot before being allowed to proceed to the stop.

I was second or third at the temperature screening which opened at 7:10 one morning and 7:20 the second. On the first morning we were held outside the tapstiles until 7:15, until 7:25 on the second.

I headed straight to Mine Train both days and had a short wait both days before the trains began running. It was a walk on for me once the line began moving.

Went and checked my phone.

On 12/6 I was at the stop at 6:30 and was the third group in line. The bus (mega bus) came at 6:44.

On 12/11 I was at the stop at 6:34 and the line extended past the railings. Two buses (1 mega, 1 regular) showed up at the same time at 6:41.
Both times we reached the MK before 7:00 and were held there until exactly 7:00 a.m.

What resort did you stay at? We were at Boardwalk last week and they didn't start running the buses until 20 minutes before park opening. We were so disappointed! The staff at both Boardwalk and the transportation people told us their new policy is to not having buses run until 30 minutes before at the earliest. We didn't even get that. We missed a lot of good park browsing time. There were people that had waited for about 2 hours by the time that bus finally pulled up.

I was at Pop and they and AoA always seemed to have the first buses into the parks every morning while I was there. I stayed at YC in September and it seems like the buses there arrived at the parks slightly later but definitely earlier than you’ve experienced. From Pop we were definitely the first or second bus to MK and AK when I used them.

I felt a little at first worrying so much about being among the first to arrive but it really works if you’re avoiding longer indoor queues like I am. It was a bit of a fail at Soarin’ where we were held inside for 20 minutes before the ride began but I was happy with my decision everywhere else.

ETA-I went back and looked at my YC pix and on September 7 a MK bus came at 7:58 and my first castle picture is stamped 8:17. The park opened at 9:00 that day.
