MK Rope Drop Questions

We have been to WDW a few times, but we have never made it for MK rope drop. We are bringing my sister-in-law and her nephew this year, for what very well may be a once in a lifetime trip for them, so I would like to make it extra special for them. What is the crowd like on Main Street / in the hub at rope drop? Are the photo pass photographers already out for Castle pictures? How early do all of the Main Street shops open, and the Sorcerer's HQ? How early do you have to be in the hub to get a good view of the opening show?

When we visited in august this year they opened Main Street about one hour prior MK opening time. The Shops have been open, but I think Sorcerer opened later, we had a lot of PP Photographers and the crowds were ok, only a few people in our picture. Didn't watch the new Welcome Show but I think if you arrive about 30 minuted before they let people on MS, so 1 and a half hour before opening, you are in front and will be fine. You could get some Starbucks treat, watch around and when crowd built go to the hub. Have for.

The crowd on Main Street isn't bad at all, it's very spread out. Unless you're rope dropping 7DMT, you can have a leisurely morning. Yes there are Photopass photographers out. Not sure about Sorcerers, but I believe not until park open time. It's easy to watch the opening show (nothing like fireworks). Even if you are headed to Tomorrow, Frontier/Adventurelands first thing you can watch it, then go.

Perfect! Thanks so much. We have a somewhat leisurely morning. We have a later FP+ for 7DMT, so we are going to start by getting as many of the smaller things done as possible before our 9:50 FP+ for splash. Winnie, Under the Sea, IASM, and Haunted Mansion, then over to Splash and Big Thunder.
