MK Rope Drop Monorail from Epcot Resorts?

We're debating a switch to Beach/Yacht Club for the pool and proximity to Epcot/HS. I'm just wondering if it is possible to take the monorail to MK for rope drop/EMH nor not? It seems like you need to cut through Epcot to get to the monorail, but I'm not sure - and if it's not open yet, I'm wondering if that makes a difference to monorail accessibility from these resorts on those days. TIA!

You have to walk through Epcot. So, unless Epcot is open before MK it would not be possible.

Also, you would need park hoppers or an AP.

Just take the MK bus. It puts you right at the MK gates.

Even if you do have park hoppers and Epcot opens early, the bus is still way faster.

My advice is to take the bus but be at the Yacht Club stop that morning. We waited a long time for MK busses at BC this week because they kept filling up at YC. If RD is a priority - I would walk to the YC stop just to be sure!

We're Board Walk people and the bus to MK is the only way to go for the reasons previously mentioned. A switch to an Epcot resort means you walk to 2 of the 4 parks, we drive to AK as we've experienced long waits getting out of there. Also keep in mind that while waiting for a bus back to YC/BC you can take a S/D or BW bus if you just missed a YC/BC bus, it's a short walk from either drop off point to your resort.

The walk to Epcot is quite short, especially from BC, but I wouldn't call the walk to DHS short. It's not ridiculously long, and I like taking it, but many prefer taking the boat. Some also base the decision to walk on whether there is a long line, did they just miss the boat, etc.

I'm not trying to dissuade you, I love staying in the BW area.

We we wanted to see if we could beat the boat walking to HS from BW. We had to power walk the entire time just to keep up. We arrived at the exact same time. Never walked again!

DW and I love the walk. Last time we took the monorail from MK to EC and then walked through EC and out the Int'l gateway and walked to DHS. I thought it was nice and relaxing but DS14 hated every step of it.

I'm with your son.

Having done both many times over the years, the boat is our choice.

And, depending on WHICH LEG(s) of the trip you choose, it is possible to beat the boat.

But...
Leaving at the same time:
It is not possible to beat the boat from Swolphin to DHS (or the reverse.)
It is not possible to beat the boat from Yacht/Beach to DHS.
It is not possible to beat the boat from Yacht/Beach to Boardwalk (or the reverse.)

Yeah, I thought I'd point out the length to the OP because some think it's enjoyable and some just can't fathom why someone wouldn't take the boat to avoid it, lol.

I enjoy walking. I'm one of those people who can't understand why people dislike CSR and SSR because "they're so big." I only like to walk in enjoyable locations though. The super long hallways at Kidani would annoy me while walking from the Ranchos to El Centro doesn't.

It's a great resort, I hope you enjoy your stay!

I would take the bus. It will drop you off at the MK entrance. If you drive, you'll have to park at the TTC. You may or may not also have to take a tram.

I've strangely thought about taking a bus from Pop to Epcot, then taking the monorail to the MK with my bf. This is solely because I have usually stayed at SOG, so taking the monorail is part of the fun for me. Someone please tell me to get over it...

The best cure for a monorail addiction is to get stuck on it for an extended period, possibly missing an ADR or other reservation in the process. I don't rely on the monorail if I have any firm deadlines, not because we got stuck but because I've read enough stories about people who have. It's a low-probability high-impact event when it occurs.
