MK or HS for Non-Ride People?

I am helping a family member plan for their 1st trip in a long time. They have told me that they aren't ride people and asked which park (MK or HS) would be the better option. I believe I know which park I am going to suggest to them and why, but I wanted to see if my fellow DISers could sway me!

Anyone have any thoughts?

HS but, are they aware that most 'rides' at MK are more like attractions that you move through? It's really hard to explain to people who have not experienced WDW but many 'rides' at Disney are stories that your travel on a vehicle to experience.

Personally I wouldn't want to miss the MK but if they truly only want shows then HS has more to offer I believe.

I think the answer is easily MK though that'll depend on their personal likes and dislikes of Disney. Main Street and all the entertainment that happens there. The parades and fireworks. MK, imo, is a better walk around park. HS is more convoluted I think.

Carasol of Progress, Hall of Presidents etc. aren't really rides.

Though there are plenty of "street" entertainment too at HS. Both work, but I think MK is better. And you do have plenty of shows to watch if that stuff floats their boat.

I agree. MK has so much stuff to do and so much going on all the time that you can make a day out of just watching the street performances, parades, and shows.

I think there is a lot more to do and see at the MK in terms of shows and sites. Any reason they don’t consider Epcot. That is the park that I think of for non-ride people. So much to see and do there, from the Seas aquarium, Living with the Land, to all the countries in World Showcase.

The only thing we like about DHS are the rides, so I would choose literally any other park if not doing any rides.

Do they not do any rides at all regardless of what type or do they just not like coaster/thrill rides? I think regardless of that answer, I would go with MK no matter what. Just curious why you are deciding between HS and MK? Have you considered EPCOT or is that already on the list? Honestly, I would even pick Animal Kingdom over HS due to the shows and animal exhibits (not sure if they would count the safari as ride or not)

I wonder what their definition of "Ride" is? ToT ride, or Winnie the Poo ride?

I'd have them look at Peter Pan, TTA, or Carousel of Progress you tube video. See if they consider them rides? If not, I would pick MK.

They don't like thrill rides or they literally don't like any ride at all?
If its just that they don't like coasters etc then I'd say MK for sure because it has the most rides/shows overall plus the most mild rides like PP, IASW, HM, Pooh, JC, POTC, COP, peoplemover, Dumbo.....
If they literally don't like rides then HS as it has a number of shows and Streetmosphere.

I would agree that HS has more shows. BatB, Little Mermaid, kids Jedi training, Muppets. And evening Star Wars and Fantasmic.
But, for their first trip ina long while, I would hate to miss MK.
So they don't like rides. I would consider Jungle Cruise, Pirates, Haunted Mansion ,Its a small world, Hall of Presidents etc more attractions.
Plus there is Laugh Floor, Philharmonic .
MK, also has the afternoon parade and HEA at night.

I have tried multiple times to tell them how the "rides" are, but like you said I think it is hard to understand until you experience it. I am gonna suggest ride through videos so they see that it is more of being pulled through a show then a ride haha.

Have to agree, plus HS has gotten very Star Wars which I don't believe they are into.

I haven't been part of their whole planning process, but I believe they already have an EPCOT day and an Animal Kingdom day. I think they may have only gotten a 3 day ticket so are trying to figure out which park to not go to.

I'm glad to see that I couldn't be swayed! I was planning to suggest MK as well but you have all definitely solidified that. It is the magic of the resort and has everything for every type of person.
