We're going on Saturday to MK in the morning to see opening and rope drop. The park opens at 8. Does that mean the opening show is at 8?

That means the opening show will be at 7:55AM.
They will likely open the park gates about 7:40-7:45AM.

Arriving at 7:30 will put you pretty far back in the pack if that matters to you.

OK thanks. I guess we'll be good if we get there at 7:30.

We walked up to the MK front gates 7:30-40ish for an 8AM opening back over Columbus Day weekend. As @Robo indicated, they started letting people through the gate 7:45ish. It was easy peasy... not that many people out front and it was nice and orderly... on what ended up being a pretty stout crowd day later on.

Have fun!

Being far back doesn't matter. We have 8,9 and 10AM fastpasses and then we're out of there. We just wanted to see the opening show again. We might truth mine train before the 8 AM fastness, but I doubt we'll get there before the wait gets to 1 hour, even at rope drop.

Does Main Street open at 7 if the park opens at 8?

And if there are EMH at 7, does anyone know what time the buses will start running?

1. Nope. Main St. will open about 7:45.
2. Between 6:00-6:20.

Ok... I think I'm getting confused here. The opening show takes place where the train station sin from of all of the landscaping, correct? They don't let anyone past the opening show on to Main Street before the park actually opens, do they?

1. Nope. (It has not been there for many months.)
2. They let all guests onto Main St. after they are scanned in at the gates and the MK Welcome Show takes place on the Castle Forecourt Stage in the Hub.

It has been this way for most of 2017.

Wow...I guess a lot happens in 10 years!

Yes, sadly, the MK Welcome Show at the train station is no longer performed. I miss it. The new show is at the castle and is not as good. It could be great if they punched it up some, but right now it's a bit bland. The reason for the change is suspected to be security related in that they would rather not hold everyone in the area in front of the Mickey Floral and instead disperse them onto main street (and also open the Emporium and Main Street Bakery/Starbucks while they're at it). Guests are held at ropes at the bridges to the various lands, but if you want to see the castle show you need to be in the center.
