Does the MK opening ceremony still take place on morning EMH?

Our first morning (two weeks today:cool1:) is EMH at MK and I'd thought we could take advantage of waking up at 4am by getting to MK early. Will we still be able to see the opening ceremony on a EMH day?

If so what time does it start - at park opening or before to allow the park to open at the stated time?

I could be wrong, Libby, but I think on EMH mornings they will still do the opening ceremony at 'normal' park opening time. So, if the park is due to open to the general public at 9 and the EMH is from 8-9 they will do the opening ceremony at about 8:45.

Like I say, I could be wrong but I have a feeling that the opening ceremony always takes place at 'official' opening time.

i thought they still did it at normal opening times as well

Oh, that changes our plans a bit.

Soooooo, we could get into the park at 8am and do a couple of rides/get fast passes but then have to leave the park to see the opening?

And will the opening be at 9am or will it be before and the gates open at 9am?

And lastly is it worth seeing?

a real nice one disney do is the pool opening ceremony. the one at contemporary is real nice.its done at all the hotel pools and all are different
usual time for pool opening is 10am

Libby, it is definitely worth seeing - in my opinion, it is the nicest of all the opening ceremonies.

Having said that, I'm not sure trying to get back out of the park to see it once you've already entered for EMH is the best option. For a start, it will be pretty packed and, secondly, I fear you will probably be fighting against the hordes who are pushing towards the opposite direction (although they won't actually be able to go anywhere, you know what people are like - they have to shove forward as far as they can possibly get)

The ceremony, I believe, starts around 8:40-6:45 so, again, you will barely have time to do one or two rides before having to head back out to the front.

Do you not have another morning where you can be at MK for opening?

they pick a kid give them a wand and ask them to wave at curtain things. The pool fountain will come on when the child waves the wand in that direction ect

Thanks for those comments - they are definitely things I hadn't thought of, especially the fighting against the crowd. It just seemed a good use of our waking up up a silly time morning - I think we'll do EMH anyway and forget about the opening ceremony that day. I might manage to get DD(15) out early on another morning. LOL!
