We just decided to add a trip over Thanksgiving break. We will be arriving late on Tuesday so we will have Wed-Sat at the parks before leaving early on Sunday. We will do 1 day at each park. We have been to Disney many times before but never over Thanksgiving break.

Would it be a mistake to go to MK on Thanksgiving Day? I've looked at the touring plans crowd calendars and it looks like all of the parks will be crazy busy on all of the days so does it really matter? If you wouldn't do MK on Thanksgiving, what day would you choose for MK? As a rule of thumb, I've always avoided Saturdays for our MK days.

Thoughts?

We are hoping to be at Magic Kingdom on Thanksgiving Day! I am not sure what crowds will be like, but Magic Kingdom is where I want to spend our holiday. And what could be better than a turkey leg??

We went this past Thanksgiving and had a great day in MK. It was crowded, but I was able to get us Fast Passes that allowed us to move from ride to ride with very little wait. Now we are a party of 3, so if your party is larger, it could be harder.

We went to MK on Thanksgiving Day, in 2015, and had a great day. Yes it was crowded, but we still had a ton of fun.

What @SaintsManiac said. We did Epcot on Thanksgiving last year and MK on Friday. It will be our plan this year as well. Our reason for doing it this way is we like the morning EMH. Epcot has morning EMH that Thursday and MK on Friday. If you aren’t staying somewhere that can use EMH or don’t like EMH (can make the parks busier sometimes, although at a very busy time of year like Thanksgiving, I don’t really notice a difference), you might not want to pick those parks on those days.

I would do MK on Friday. We did Epcot on Thanksgiving and had a blast.

This. We have been to WDW for several Thanksgivings, and found this to be the best strategy. Check out the restaurant options at Yacht and Beach Club and The Boardwalk, considering they are right out IG.

If you have your heart set on MK for Th, go early and try to accomplish your must dos early.
Enjoy your trip!

We are going Thanksgiving weeks as well. On Thursday, we've planned a split day between a morning in Hollywood Studios, which I believe will be the least crowded, and evening in Magic Kingdom, with a Liberty Tree ADR. We expect the whole week to be crowded, so I'm not sure there will be much difference between Thursday or Friday. I would expect Wednesday, with the evening Extra Magic Hours, and Saturday to be busier.

It's a different trip for us. We have never done Thanksgiving before. But, we are going in with the mindset that there will be crowds, and we just won't have the opportunity to tour the same way we normally do,

We like to do thanksgiving in Disney when we can. MK is the most crowded on Thursday, especially as the day goes on. We did it though and it wasn’t insane.
Maybe figure out where you want to eat your t-day dinner first.
