Hi all! So, I'm very excited to be heading to Disney on Dec. 27th! I'm going with a group of 5 adults. We're not really early morning/rope drop people. We've booked a park reservation for MK on the 28th, with a dinner at BOG for 7:15 (never been, looking forward to it). I was wondering what the line ups for food around lunch time was like at MK. Is mobile ordering a good option? I don't want to waste my time in the park waiting for food! Just trying to determine if we should eat before we enter the park. We want to prioritize getting on our favorite rides! Thanks all :)

Currently, mobile ordering is the only option at many locations. Waits can be long especially at the lunch or dinner rush. If you don’t want to waste time waiting for food, I’d recommend doing an earlier or later lunch to avoid the rush. Or you can do what I do a lot and just snack all day until your dining reservation :)

If you decide to mobile order check out which restaurant you want to eat at and reserve your time in the morning, that way when it's time you just click "I'm here" and you'll only have to wait for the food and not a time slot to open up, food usually takes about 10 minutes on a regular busy day
A lot of people think that MO is the only option, it isn't you can still walk up to a podium but you'll have to wait longer than if you have a MO placed.

One option I thought about last week when I was there was to leave the park for lunch. Specifically to bounce to the Contemporary or the Grand Floridian for lunch. It was getting to be lunch time, and lines everywhere for a quick service meal, and even the mobile order time slots were filling up quick. I looked at the Gasparilla Grill at the Grand Floridian and the time window for order was the current time window. I thought it may be less hassle to hop on the monorail over to eat and then come back to the park.

We had a reservation for the plaza at 1120 which was perfect!! I highly recommend a dining reservation. It was nice to take off your mask and be in the AC for an hour.

How far in advance can a MO be made? Same day only? Days out? A week out? If I make a MO in advance and then change my kind can I cancel?

We were there last week staying at CCV and left MK for lunch after we hit all the rides. We did P & J’s over at Ft Wilderness. Great Southern BBQ. Short boat ride from MK. I think there are far better options outside of MK for lunch and would explore those options before heading into the park.

We were there two weeks ago. First day at MK we went to BOG and had a 1:45 reservation. The second day we did a MO at 11 at Cosmic Rays. We had a wonderful view of the castle and ate before the crowds. When we were finished with lunch the crowds were growing. Everything was basically walk-on in Tomorrowland.

Same day only . You have to pay for your food in advance to secure the spot
Ive never canceled so not sure if you would get money back

I don't like the selection of fast serve at MK.
I like the Pizza at the Pizza Window on the Boardwalk.
They don't have normal pizza at MK (only the tomato sauce on crackers)

The Tacos/burrito place. Pecos Bill or whatever might be okay in Western Land.

I'm not sure how late you're planning on getting to the park but one of my favorite things to do on a MK day for lunch is take the boat over to Wilderness Lodge for Geyser Point. It takes some time getting over there but they are usually super quick, food is good and nice setting.

Definitely make a reservation if you want to eat in MK for lunch. You might want to consider a breakfast reservation at a mono rail resort since you're not rope drop people. Have a nice breakfast and then go to MK. We ate at Chef Mickeys. We had a Dole Whip and a turkey leg late afternoon to hold us over until dinner.
