Any recommendations for a late breakfast or early lunch in MK (sit down restaurant). I'm thinking between 11 and 11:30 we'll be hungry because we won't be doing a big breakfast before arriving at MK when it opens. We have three young kids between 3 and 8 so good food and fairly kid friendly is preferred. A character meal is not a must at this meal.

Thanks!

Not a lot of options for Magic Kingdom. Your choices are:

Cinderella Castle
Crystal Palace
Liberty Tree Tavern
Plaza Restaurant

The first two are character meals at lunch. I don't know when they switch over from breakfast to lunch (Crystal Palace is buffet, not sure what Cinderella's is...we've never been...we have boys who had no interest in Cinderella). We went to Liberty Tree Tavern for the first time last year and really enjoyed it. There are no charactars at lunch and you order off menu. I had a really good turkey panini sandwich.
Plaza Restaurant is one of our favorites. It is different that most of your sit down meals as it is only sandwiches and salads. It has become a must do for us every trip. I love the cheeseburger and club sandwich and DH loves the reuben. The shakes and the sundaes are heavenly.

The Plaza is very nice and quiet. When we went in June of 06, we went to the hostess at the Plaza a few minutes before it opened and we didn't need ADR's. We got in within a few minutes after opening, waiting for a total of 5-10 minutes.

Once inside, it's nice and cool and quieter than most restaurants at Disney. The food was also delicious. It seems like a slightly older crowd in there but no one seemed to mind my 1.5 year old DS who was having a melt-down/spazz attack at the same time. ;)

I LOVE the Plaza Restaurant! :thumbsup2 Great for an early lunch- it's quaint & relaxing... yummy food too!

Another vote for The Plaza. Good food and reasonable prices for a sit down. You could also pop over to one of the monorail resorts very quickly. Lots of choices there as well.

I vote for Crystal Palace. I think the last seating for breakfast is about 10:30 am. I know this is a little earlier then you wanted, but this really is the best time to goto Crystal Palace. First, breakfast is cheaper then lunch. Second, Disney knows how to do a breakfast buffet. I like lunch and dinner buffets at Disney too, but nothing beats their breakfasts.

Third, and most importantly, the place starts to clear out at about 10:45. You get so much more character interaction when you book a 10:30 breakfast, compared to a 9:00 am breakfast. They don't start seating for lunch until just about everyone eating breakfast is out. Imagine sharing the characters with 10 tables for the last 20 minutes of your meal, as compared to the normal 100 tables. ITS GREAT.

I'll be at Crystal Palace in 17 days for my late breakfast, and I can't wait.

PS. Also consider an 11 am breakfast at Chef Mickeys. A short ride on the monorail, and for the same reasons as stated above, you will have the characters practically to yourself. Chef Mickey's doesn't serve lunch, so no rush to leave either.

Another Crystal Palace vote here. In the past, we have been seated at 11:00 for a late breakfast.

Beat ya Captain - we'll be there in 14 days for ours, and may do it a couple more times during our stay. :thumbsup2

If those park options don't wow you, leaving MK for a bit of a meal break can also be a good plan. The Grand Floridian is an easy boat or monorail ride away (I vote for the boat and monorail back).

The Grand Floridian Cafe serves lunch. We had a similar ADR plan there, but canceled when we were finally able to secure a lunch ADR at Coral Reef at Epcot. You should get an ADR for this one.

You could also get a sit down meal at the GF CS restaurant. Breakfasst ends and Lunch starts at 11am. Nice thing for this one you wouldn't need an ADR.

At the Polynesian many suggest Kona. The CS restaurant there is kind of small so if you arrived at a busy time getting a table for 5 could be an issue so I wouldn't suggest that as your plan.

Though we loved Chef Mickey's it would be too stressful to try to get there for the final ADRs at 11:30, so I wouldn't bother with that one.

we have a late breakfast/early lunch at the Plaza Restaurant lots of times when we are in the MK. There sandwichs and soups are really good. It is always nice to take a break for awhile after you have been in the parks all morning.
