We're going to WDW for four nights but only doing one park one day - MK - to keep it relaxing with DS. This is the plan for MK day - is it too much/too little? I'm especially worried about dinner reservation as DS usually goes to bed at 8 pm but it was the only time I could get - thoughts?

8:10 am - CP breakfast
9-11or 12 - play in park
12-4 - nap/rest for DS (and probably DH knowing him!)
4-7:45 - play in park
7:45 - dinner at LTT
after dinner go back to room

Well, each child is different. And they are different from day to day depending upon the stimuli, etc.

I think this is fine for you to plan, but be prepared to be flexible. Also, try to have a stroller that your child can nap in. If it is hot, you may want to fit in something like the Hall of Presidents so that a nice "cool-down" in a relatively quiet, dark atmosphere is available.

Again, I think it's fine to have a plan as long as you are willing to deviate based on how things go.

Have fun.

Given that you're talking about a 7 month old, I honestly would be a lot less concerned than I would be with, say, a 3 year old. (Who would be much more actively involved with what's going on.) Of course, every child is different, but I think that much more than older children, such a young child can nap in the stroller, or be held/snuggled by the parent, and location isn't as important. There's certainly the issue of AV stimulation putting them into a bit of overload, and you'll need to be flexible to deal with that possibility, but I suspect you'll be fine and having a great time. The bigger problem will be how tired you, the parents, are feeling :)

I don't think it is too much at all. We took our DD when she was 8 months and we didn't take a four hour break - I personally think that is a little long unless you are going in the summer heat. We went from opening to close (10 pm) and she just slept in the stroller. 7 months is a super easy time to bring kids. My DD was great at meals, but we only did counter service. Sit down meals would be my only concern with your schedule, but it will probably be fine.

I think that would be fine.

You are taking a break which IMO is the key factor there!

We take those long breaks too & they are so nice & rejuivinate (sp) us all for the evening.

You're a much nicer mother than my friends are! *LOL* They usually don't take specific nap breaks--the children sleep in the stroller (or we hold them) when they're ready. Most are well-socialized and don't require special nap-time accommodations, which is great on vacations. Probably would be more of an issue with a toddler, but infants usually are pretty easy-going. Thank goodness! :)

thanks all! DS is in Daycare so he's used to sleeping anywhere too so I won't be surprised to see him sleeping in the stroller. I just want the trip to be stress free, and since the dinner is so late, I don't want him to be overstimulated too long, KWIM? But obviously, it's not rigid, usually at WDW I'm a scheduler to the max, but obviously life has changed (for the better) so I'm going to have to as well to be more a "go with the flow" gal!

You'll be fine! My baby was 6 months when we went and he was way easier than my older guys! He loved seeing everything and was happy just sitting in the stroller. The only thing he didn't like were the rides that were dark so we quit taking him on those! Hope you have a great trip.

I just got back with my 4 month old. We had planned on a break in the middle of the day but he slept so soundly in his stroller we just did that. He's in daycare so he's used to the noise and he's not a long napper either. He prefers more shorter naps so he had lots of those. He loved the shows and it was nice to sit out of the sun and see him watching them.

I would assume that your DS will nap on and off during the day and probably go to sleep during dinner. We took my son to disney and then on the cruise at 8 months and he did as we did but was asleep alot of times. I cannot think of a dinner he didn't fall asleep during, the main thing for us was to keep his schedule of when we fed him and we would stop and get his food and feed him so all was pretty normal to him. If he was sleeping I did not wake him to ride a ride or anything.

The only thing I'm noticing is that I don't see lunch anywhere on your schedule. Counter service can take a long, long time, waiting in line and such. It might be quicker if you eat at the resort, but I don't remember whats at Wilderness Lodge, or how quick it is to go back and forth from there to MK. We did the mid-day break a couple of times, but we really didn't have that much time at the resort. (We mainly did it since it was January, and that was the warmest time of day to let ds have some pool time.)

So, if time starts getting away from you, consider finding a relatively quiet area inside MK for your downtime.

7 months is a great portable age for babies. :)

I took both my children at that age and it is super easy! DD would take short naps in between rides and shows and while we just walked around. DS would sleep through a ride or show if he wanted to sleep. This last trip we did a few later dinners (DD, 19 mos DS 7 mos) and DS would sleep - we had to hold him as we couldn't bring the stroller into the sit down restaurants (which we knew ahead of time) but we took turns and it was no big deal (only exception - the Turf Club at SSR, they weren't busy so they let us bring it in).
