Looking to book one of the parties for our trip in September but not able to book it out this far? Are the dessert parties different than the other restaurants for the 180 dining window? Thanks.

No. Dessert parties and some other special dining experiences are not released the same way that regular ADRs are released. They sometimes release large blocks of dates at a time and sometimes it can cut close to your trip date. I think as of now the party has not been released beyond May 28th or so. There is a watch thread on the Theme Parks Attractions and Strategies section of the boards.
