Taking price out of the equation, which would you do? It looks like the overhang could encumber your view if you sit on the terrace, but it sure would be nice to have an actual seat. What have been your experiences?

FWIW, my question relates to the NYE fireworks so not sure if projections onto Cinderella castle are a big feature of the show and if that plays into where the best view is.

Thanks for your feedback!

Most people on the boards recommend Plaza Garden viewing over the Terrace. The viewing angle from the Terrace is off to the side and (as you note) the castle projections can be partially obstructed (although that may be more important for normal HEA fireworks than the NYE show).

I did the Plaza viewing last December and it was fantastic. There was enough space to sit on the ground if we wanted and still see most of the show. I was very pleased I chose that over the Terrace view (even in the rain - although the CMs had us covered there too - they handed out Disney ponchos to everyone in the Plaza viewing area to keep).

We did the Terrace party about 6 years ago in its former incarnation. We liked it, but it was much cheaper then and we had one less child, and both kids were little (my oldest is 11 so now an adult in the eyes of Disney). My husband is a pyrotechnician so we liked the non-shoving for a good spot part, but being off to the side wasn't great.
I saw that they now let you go to the Plaza for a head-on view. I always wanted to do the dessert party again, but really couldn't justify it. With the new show and a lower price for that perfect spot, heck yeah! Even better, I've since found out that the Plaza and Terrace parties are kept completely separate. I don't know why that makes me even happier, but it does. This is a surprise ADR for our kids and I can't wait for them to find out.

You may have seen this already but I posted a bunch of pics from my Plaza Garden experience from a few months ago here: Review: Tomorrowland Terrace Dessert Party with Plaza Garden Viewing

Obviously that was for HEA so not really sure what I'd think about NYE. Although, I still tend to think I'd rather be in the garden. The off angle of the terrace just bugs me for some reason.

I think with the perimeter fireworks that are a part of the the NYE show, that probably also really makes me lean towards the plaza garden as well.

This review is incredibly helpful - thank you for sharing it!

So I'm gathering that if you want to see the OUAT projection show you would have to cut down drastically on party time itself. Is that Garden View area available in time for the projection show?

I just did the garden view in April. Honestly even if I had booked the Terrace view I still would have walked down. It was really nice and my five year old loved it.

I just did this the other night. So check in starts at 7:30, we got there about 8:00. There was no small tables left in the upper section (for the garden viewing) - there was only 2 of us. I said she could just put us in a larger table and we would share the tables when others came along, but she said no. So she brought us down to the lower level which was the Terrace viewing and whispered to us - "I couldnt say it back there, but down here you don't have to leave, you can watch the fireworks from your seat." Ummmmm, we could barely see the castle through the trees and poles and whatever else -- Plus the overhanging roof would block any view of the fireworks -- no thanks!! So we ate our dessert down there, then went out to the garden viewing area about 8:40ish. Perfect, head on view of the castle!!! Well, except for the various lamp posts and other lighting tower thingys. But, can't avoid those unless you are literally right in front of the castle. DD watched it sitting down but I stood up so I could see the entire castle projections. Sitting down, you can't see the lower half of the castle.

I cant imagine paying for the Terrace seating, the views must be horrible from there and you can only see the side of the castle.
