Can anyone tell me about the private cruises for the fireworks at Magic Kingdom? We have done the Illuminations cruise and are thinking of surprising someone in our party with this as a birthday present. Now, that said, Disney does decorate the boat for a birthday (at a price of course), has anyone ever done this ? Is it done tastefully or tacky? Please explain. Any help greatfully appreciated.

Thanks

Hi, I know they do offer the Wishes Birthday cruise. When I called to book our firworks cruise(last month) it was offered as an option. I am not sure, but I think the CM said they have a cake and decorate the boat with balloons? As far as the price, I think it was $175 or $200. Sorry im not more specific, but we just did the regular cruise. Im sure someone out there can be more specific. Hope this helped a little. Have a great trip!

Rootskate,

Did you enjoy the regular cruise? Was it cold? We are scheduled in January and wondering how warm to dress the little ones in our party. Could you hear the wishes music?

Thanks
Shelly

We have done both the regular and the birthday cruises. The cruises are great but I just don't think the extra $100 is worth it. You can buy a large cake at any WDW restraunt for around $40 ( and they taste very good). They balloons are nice and they usually put up a birthday banner on the side of the pontoon boat. They have blankets to use during cooler times. We try to do at least one specialty cruise per trip. I really like the Wishes cruise because you can see the fireworks better from the boat than you can in the park. I hope soon they pipe in the music to the boats. This trip we are doing the Grand Gathering Magical Fireworks Cruise... I CAN'T WAIT UNTIL FEB!!!!

When you come back from your grand gatherings wishes cruise please post. I am trying to decide what boat/fireworks show should I try to get for our family gathering in May.

Since you have done the pantoon boat of wishes/illuminations I have a couple of questions. The WDW web sight says boats hold 10 adults or 12 total. I called and talked to a reservationist and told her how many in our party. I thought we would need 2 boats, but she said we could all fit on one boat. What do you think? We will have 10 adults and 4 kids ages 8, 3, 2, and 6 months. Most of the kids will obviously be lap kids. Do you think we would be better with 2 boats? Or should we just plan on the grand gatherings wishes cruise. HELP! I am on the fence as to what to do.

You will be fine on one boat. We had a party of 7 adults and 3 kids (two seven year olds and a 4 year old), plus there were two more members missing due to illness. Even if we had our full compliment of 12, there would have been room for more. The Pontoon boats are large and fit 12 very comfortably. I can see why they cap it at that figure, because everyone has plenty of space and you dont feel hemmed in, but you could easily fit 4+ more adults if they allowed it!!

Two boats would be a waste of money for your party.

Have fun!

Allie

Thanks for the reply! I thought it might be VERY uncomfortable on the boat with our amount of family.

If we get only 1 boat that will leave more money for something else FUN!

We did the GG fireworks cruise in August with 16 in our party ranging in age from 68 to 4 and everyone loved it! It was by far the best thing we planned to do together all week. Lots of fun, and you just can't get a better view of Wishes! If you have enough people to do it, I highly reccommend it!

It was pretty chilly the night we went. They had blankets onboard which the driver offered us as soon as we boarded the boat. We could hear the Wishes music although not as clearly as it is in the park itself. We had a wonderful time on the cruise. Im sure you will too. :)

I just booked a Wishes birthday cruise for Feb. We have 15 in our party, but our reservationist said that we would need two boats, even though 3 would be lap babies. Do you think the skipper would let us all on? I may have to cancel, because I can't see leaving 3 people behind while the rest of us cruise.

How much would the GG cruise be for 15?

The GG cruise was about $30 pp I think. The music is piped onto the boat, so you can hear everything very clearly. You do have to have a Magical Gatherings number to book this though. Are you guys booked with MG? If not, just call and get the #. All it does is "link" all the ressies in your party together. Hopefully they won't make you cancel and get new reservation #'s.

That would be a lot for all of us, and I don't know if I would pay $30 for all the kids, but I would like the music. Can you tune into any radio stations to get the music on the pontoon boats?

WANNABE,

Thanks for the info. I already have booked the cruise, but I don't think we will do the extras.
When we did the Illuminations cruise they let us take a bottle of champagne with us. I will probably just do that again.
Thanks again!

momof2: I had heard a rumor here a few months ago that they were trying to get the music piped into the pontoon boats as well. It wouldn't hurt to ask when you make the reservation if this has happened yet.

We went on both the Wishes and Illuminations cruises on our two week trip (ended last week) and I loved the Wishes Cruise. The music was piped into the Pontoon boat and the captain brought us lemonade and cookies (even though we hadn't requested it.) It's the best view for Wishes from a distance. It was very romantical and I would do it again in a heartbeat. I didn't care for the Illuminations cruise as much because they tie your up to other boats under a bridge and the view was not as good. My husband preferred Illuminations because of the content, but for the experience go with Wishes. It was awesome.
