MK Firework Dessert Party

now here's a question:
with the fireworks cruises, they changed the name to speciality cruises to cover their backs on the odd times they needed to cancel the fireworks.
with this being listed as the wishes dessert party, what happens if the fireworks are cancelled?

When I booked the CM said that the party would go ahead even if the fireworks didn't

Called today to see if the party had been extended. CM said she knew it was going to be but after some searching, said it hadn't been loaded into the system yet and that I could call back tomorrow, but she was betting on Monday.

We attended the dessert party in July by walking up. Well, we actually purchased the tickets about 2 hours prior to the start time directly from a cashier at Tomorrowland Terrace. We were a party of four. I think they had quite a few cancellations due to a storm passing through. Spectro ended up being cancelled, but Wishes went on as scheduled. I'm hoping for similar luck when we return in October, although the price increase is a little hard to swallow.

I took a chance this afternoon and called to check availability for October 7th. I was able to get an ADR for our party of 10!:cool1:

I read somewhere not sure where could have been here somewhere but MK dessert party is extended til 10/31. That said we attended it on 8/28 and it was WONDERFUL. It was myself, my mother, my husband and our 2 children 6 months and almost 5. We got there and were seated at a table with our name on it even though my mother was told it was standing room only at booking. The desserts were brought out moments before they left us in. They had tea, juice, coffee and milk! Blackberry tea was Great my husband is a big tea drinker and he is still talking about their tea. They kept all the desserts filled up and no fighting over trying to get more of anything. We were all completely stuffed by the time the fireworks started. Tinkerbell flew right over our head and the view of the castle was completely unobstructed. Everybody does stand at the rail but honestly i think the whole room maybe have had 100 people maybe so even with all at rail there was plenty of room. WELL worth the money. Great time had by all!

Finally, just an opinion, but if a cast member said to me that all the buffet might be 'gone' at 9pm, and I had a 9:05pm reservation, then I would complain and ask for my money back - I would also report the CM for being awkward and ridiculous. It seems that he/she was just trying to put obstacles in your way.

if the fireworks are at 9, you cannot have a 9:05 reservation... everyone gets approximately the same time reservation... one hour before fireworks time, i.e. 8pm for a 9pm show... and there was no way they were running out of food... and they didn't even start cleaning up until the fireworks were well underway and there was still a small selection (i.e. one platter of each type) available for people as they were leaving after the fireworks...

Just wondering, was my card supposed to be charged when I made the booking for this or is it only charged if you don't cancel within 24 hours? I checked my transactions online today and it's not showing up... I have a confirmation number though.

it showed up on my credit card statement within a few days. i presume they refund it if you cancel but you pay up front

I am SOOOO excited for this!! :yay::yay:

We are going on Sept 19th and I just got our ressie yesterday! I have been calling everyday since they extended it and have been told it was all booked. But I kept trying and my persistence paid off. My family really wanted to do this and now we can!

We were there on 8/28 as well!! The best part about our experience was the GIANT plate of allergy-safe desserts Sara (a CM) brought my dd. She has never been more excited to have food allergies in her life, LOL! The desserts were yummy and the view of the fireworks was fantastic. My family loved it and we would definitely do it again!

I just booked Oct.14! The child's price is $12.77.

Still would like to hear what was available for guests with Dairy/Lactose Intollerance.

My dd has milk, peanut and tree nut allergies and I can tell you what she had. Our wonderful CM, Sara brought out a HUGE plate of desserts for her:

1 slice of spice cake
1 slice of chocolate cake (no dairy!) - I tasted it - it was terrific
1 slice of vanilla cake - white cake, white icing

1 small bowl of raspberry sorbet
1 small bowl or apple sorbet - very tasty

1 large chocolate chip cookie

blueberries, raspberries and blackberries

She also had some of the fresh fruit from the buffet - blackberries and pineapple.

This is really interesting, as I too wish too watch SPECTRO from Main Street before going up to the dessert party.

So do you think it is bett just twatch SPECTRO and arrive for the dessert party 'late' (I was told by CM that they hold your res for 20 minutes past the res time - so that would mean we could watch spectro without losing our pre-paid res)

OR

Is it best to check in first, then go and watch SPECTRO? Although this would be tight as Spectro is 8pm, and my check in is 8pm, so It would be a quick dash to get to Main Steet before the parade reaches that part of the park - and hope there is a viewing spot.

Finally - do we all need to check in, or can one person do it for all of us. Iwas thinking about getting a viewing spot on MAIN STREET, then one of us poping up to check in, saying that we would all be up shortly - so at least they knew we were coming.

We are not a greedy family, so as long as desserts run throughout the buffet (8pm until 9pm) as they should, then this would be fine for me - I would not be piling my plate up, and just taking what i intended to eat, then go back for more I so desired.

Finally, just an opinion, but if a cast member said to me that all the buffet might be 'gone' at 9pm, and I had a 9:05pm reservation, then I would complain and ask for my money back - I would also report the CM for being awkward and ridiculous. Unfortunately, your party does all have to be present at check-in. Otherwise we would have done the same thing you are thinking of. At check- in they put the bracelet on each member of your party. They let us check in beginning at 8:30, though, for 9:00 seating and 10:00 wishes. So you may be able to check in by 7:30, then try to find a spot for Wishes, (as close by as possible) then come back as soon as Wishes passes by to be seated. Everyone else will have been seated, and they will be eating already, but we still got plenty. If you want to be first to check-in, you will need to line up early- there was already a line for check-in at 8:25 or so.

I realize all this lining up and waiting and rushing kind of defeats the point of having the reserved seating for the show, which is why, if I were to do it over, would just completely avoid a Spectro night.

If you have seen Spectro several times, you may be OK watching from the dessert party. You can see it sort- of, it's just not a good enough view to get the whole effect, and certainly if you've never seen it, you need to see it from much closer.

I was a little irritated by the CM that warned me that the food would be gone 10 minutes after my seating time, but I think he was just trying to warn me, and didn't want me ranting to him if my favorite dessert was not available later. The other CM assured me it was fine to come back later.

The fireworks were at 10:00 the night we were there, so we had a 9:05 seating time. They did not run out of food completely ever, but there were very short spans of time where we were waiting for more of some items to come out. That didn't bother us in the least, but I think it triggered a "dessert rush" where people were worried no more was comming out and started grabbing whatever they could find, and took it to their table, where it remained uneaten. I think that "rush" effect is what the CM was referring to. Perhaps he had received some guest complaints on previous evenings and didn't want to hear complaints from me later.

But like I said, we had plenty of delicious desserts the entire evening, and they were very yummy.

I'm SOOOOO EXCITED!! My friend and I were able to get into the party for the 11th.. That is going to cover the MNSSHP. YEA!! I can't wait.. It sounds like everyone really enjoyed it so far so I'm excited to experience it for myself

mollygirl, we're going on the 19th too! we might see you there!

I have phoned twice today and no news or notes for the November extention as off yet,, I would so love to surprise my partner with this for her birthday & also our last night of our 2 week vacation on property,, probaly our last trip for 2 years too

We need to save for our wedding :cloud9:

Wow - I'm feeling like I'm no help! It was so hot I can't imagine having had coffee so I didn't even look. I did ask my son about the milk and he said he didn't see any either.

Sorry I missed you we were put all the way over in the right hand corner.
It wasn't bad just felt away from everybody. Last table.
It was nice. Suprised that we were in the dark the entire time wern't you ?
Other ppl pics they had lights on. I'm glad I did it once. But I wouldn't do it again. The price was a lil high when we did it for $16 now it's a lot more.
I try everything once. But for what they offer in my opinion it's not worth more than what we pd.

Sorry we didn't get to meet either. You probably at least said hi to my son since it seemed like everyone did. I thought it was reasonable for what we got, especially for 2 people. I wouldn't do it again, especially with a family of 5. For $115, I can have a really nice dinner here at home instead. But it was fun to experience it once.

I thought it was nicer with the lights out, but I thought we had enough light to see what we needed to. I guess I wasn't expecting anything either way.

As I said, I wouldn't do it again, but we would normally not do Wishes either. To me dealing with the crowds afterwards is not ever a magical experience and I think we would have been happier just watching it from the Poly beach (where we ate dinner). But it was fun to experience all of Wishes once the way it was supposed to be seen/heard fun to meet other DIS/TGM'ers, and the desserts were just a bonus. (And all my son's friends were very jealous of the pics and descriptions he sent!).

We attended the party on 8/26 and all agree that we will not do it again. It was not that great......

I have a question.

DH and I are thinking about going to the party Sep 21st but don't want to make an adr and pay cause with being pregnant I have been sleeping earlier and don't want to waste money if I'm to tired to attend. So my question is if I'm up to it and we want to try to get into the party, I know my chances are slim at getting in but when do you think I should go and ask about possibly getting in? Thanks :goodvibes

I feel like Raphie in a Christmas story asking for a red ryder air rifle I want November Dessert party PLEASE santa I won't shoot my eye out or my pants button at least.
