MK filled to capacity today!

I sure hope so. Our plan is to visit MK in the late evening and take advantage of the midnight closing time. My husband is going with much reservation about the anticipated crowds. We are really good at darting in and out of parks to take advantage of a few short lines and get out before the throngs of people arrive. However, we've never experienced an Easter before!

Can anyone verify that MK did, in fact, reopen later in the day? We're going to be there Friday and the plan was to hit MK at opening... but as I discovered when I was there for Christmas 2002, I like heading over REALLY early, and then leaving as the masses arrive - it is like a fish swimming upstream, trying to get back down Main Street at 11 am! I would like to do that, and then take a break at the hotel, and head back in later in the day.
MK did indeed re-open in the evening. It pretty much always does, with the possible exception of Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and July 4 (the nights with the big fireworks displays). Other than those holidays, I've never known MK to close in the morning and remain closed all day long. It was still quite crowded in the evening, but it re-opened to day guests about an hour after the parade.

we were down 3/30-4/3 and the crowds were fine. The parks were doable, no problems at all. I'm glad we left before the rush. We had a great time.

I was at MK yesterday. It was at Phase 2 in the afternoon. I drove right in. Park didn't seem too bad but there were a few long lines that I could see.

Folks, it was INSANE yesterday (4/5). Some lowlights:

1. Line to purchase park tickets at the T&TC was 45 minutes.

2. Line for monorail to MK from T&TC was 20 minutes.

3. Line to rent a stroller was 40 minutes.

4. Ran out of double-strollers at 12:15 in the afternoon.

5. Time to swindle another family out of their double-stroller was 10 minutes.

6. Time to get through main street parade to get a fast pass for Buzz Lightyear was 20 minutes.

7. At 1:40 pm, fast pass for Buzz Lightyear was for 6:05 pm.

8. Line for hot dogs was 30 minutes.

I've never seen the park this busy in my life. There's a Bermuda Triangle of humanity that forms between the Dumbo and Carousel rides that can take 15 minutes to navigate with lost children aplenty.

We got to the T&TC at 11am and left the MK at 3pm without going on a single ride. Did Chef Mickey's at 5pm and went back to the MK at 7pm and went on every ride we wanted to for a grand total of 6 rides.

Horrible. Don't go.

Going anyway.....will make the best of it. We have fun together...don't have kids to contend with....LOVE Disney...and will be content sipping on a drink at the pool if the parks get crazy!!

I hope everyone who goes or is there now has a super holiday!

I guess I knew what I was getting myself into when i made my ressies. I guess being prepared for the crowds may make it a bit easier. I leave in 24hours. Wish me luck.

My motto: A bad day at WDW is better than a good day at work!!!

I was there the first week in March and it was, without a doubt the largest crowd I had ever seen there, with the exception of Florida Resident day.

It took me 5 minutes just to walk through the area between "Small World" and "Peter Pan". Man, what a crowd.

 :sunny: :crowded: :crowded: :crazy2: :grouphug: :scared:

My friend work at WDW and she did say that AK closed on yesterday. I couldn't believe it either.

I agree! We got home on April 3....but the traffic heading south on I-75 was bumper to bumper nearly the whole way. Even the truck drivers were amazed at the people heading south for spring break!

the only day that we found crowds bad last week was Thursday, April 1. We couldn't get out of the AK fast enough, LOL

I have friends that are going to Disney tomorrow for 6 days. They have no clue what awaits them! I mentioned that it would probably be busy with the holidays, but her response was "Easter's not a big holiday. Alot of schools don't even have off. It won't be bad." :earseek: I'm torn between warning her again and just accepting that she won't believe me until she gets there and sees it herself. Oh well. Hopefully she'll bring us some park maps home to drool over until our trip at the end of May.:teeth:

I tried my best to talk my friend out of it. They left Saturday to go this week. Worst of all, she's going to get really sick of her husband saying, "I told you so!!" He was agreeing with me, but all of the other moms around us at gym class kept saying, "Oh, go on, it's always crowded at Disney!" She actually had the choice of going this week and going in May - chose this week - no real reason why - kids aren't in school yet, so not an issue - but anyway, my last comment was, "Whatever you want to do, but you wouldn't catch me at Disney that week."

:earseek: :earseek: :earseek:
We're heading to Disney on Friday. I sure hope the crowds calm down - although they will probably get even bigger with it being Easter weeked

I'm only going on Easter day and plan to be there by about 10am at the very latest. I already have my ticket but I don't know for sure if my friends will have theirs before hand or not... do you think it is possible to still get in before they close it when it reaches capacity?

We tried to warn you all.........:p NEVER GO AT SPRING BREAK!!!

You may not make it in if you wait until 10am on Easter Sunday ... if you can get there at park opening, you'll be much better off. That is, if you're talking MK. The other parks will be easier to get into on Easter, and 10am should be fine. If MK does close at capacity, it will stay closed until at least 4pm, when people start leaving after the parade. If I were you, I'd get with your friends and find out what "Plan B" is ... that is, which park other than MK you would choose if MK is closed.

See, getting to the TTC at 11 am with everyone else is NOT what these boards teach us.

The one and only point in the Bob Selinger book is to

"BE AT THE PARK YOU WANT TO GO TO 45 minutes early".

JMHO.

All of Spring Break isn't awful, just the week before and after Easter. Some schools have Spring Break early in March, some late in April. We went last week for 3 days, Monday at EPCOT was fine. We used FP for TT and MS, walked right on to everything else. Wednesday at AK was fine too. We used FP for Festival of the LK, the safari, and ITTBAB. We had a geat day and did everything we wanted to do. Tuesday at MK was very busy, but with FP we did all we wanted to. Fantasyland was the worst by far. Total gridlock. I have never seen so many strollers and wheelchairs in my life!!!!!! It was our first non-stroller trip and it was great! Our Spring Break is always end of March which DOES coinside with Easter next year. We will NOT be going to WDW....summer 05 will be our next trip there.

If you think about it, AK isn't really set up to hold that many people, not like the other parks. Too many walkways, not enough plazas. Hard to believe it was designed by imagineers... Oh well, at least they HAVE capacity limits at WDW. ;)
