What's the word on the evening extra magic hours? I am wondering, how long have they typically been in the Magic Kingdom (info. says they are 1 to 3 hours) and if they are pretty crowded, or worth it?
We leave in one week (woo hoo!) and I plan on making a point to head back to MK with my DH and DK's (6 and 3.5) to enjoy the park some at night. However, if the park only stays open an hour, and if the crowds aren't significantly lighter, it may not be worth it?
I'd love to hear from some folks who have exprienced the "magic"....
thanks!

The morning hours are one hour early and the evening hours are 3 hours after park closing. :)

We did this year before last and had an absolute blast! Only certain rides are open but they're the ones that we love to ride. I can highly recommend this experience. It was almost as if we were in the park by ourselves! If memory serves me, they only allow something like 2,000 e tickets to be sold each night. Now, that sounds like a lot but basically, you can ride the ride, get off and get right back on!

Here's a hint for you if you decide to do it. Take your ticket to the Splash Mountain photo place to get your bracelet either right before or during the last parade of the evening. The line on Main Street gets really long and by being at the SM photo area, you're right there at one of the rides! No fighting the crowds leaving the park after the fireworks and you're good to go!

Extra Magic Hours is different than e-nights. It is open to all Disney Resort Guests (plus Swan/Dolphin & Hilton) and there is no extra charge. Unlike e-nights, there is no limit on the number of wristbands. This new resort benefit just started last month (they did a test run last May).

I just got back Monday night... I did 2 EMH nights at Magic Kingdom and 1 at MGM. The Magic Kingdom was soooooo great... it was very crowded at the parks during the day... more people this year than usual... as alot of people are reporting.. but EMH were a breeze! I noticed that alot of people would tend to stay for only 1/2 of the time of the 3 hours.. and then the last hour 1/2 were very empty. I would always watch Wishes (which ate up about 40 minutes of the first hour) and then work my way around the park. the waits were minimal 5-10 minutes at most... and hardly at all for Splash... I think that may change in the summer as alot of people just didn't want to get wet at night.... and it was pretty chilly... so... Splash was a virtual walk on both nights... I actually got to stay on the ride without getting off for the first time ever!!! And one time I had an entire log to myself with noone in the 3 or 4 logs in front or behind me.. I felt like I was completely alone!! LOL!! It was great ... especially the really late night one that ended at 1 am!! Very cool walking out of the park in teh dark with No One around... sooo amazing! the MGM EMH for me just didn't have the same effect. I might have been tired.. but I felt there were many more people... and I left after only 1;/2 hour.... I prefer the extra hour in the morning at MGM. Those were the only 2 parks that i sampled the EMH in this trip.. but I think they are a great idea, and I hope they keep them around. Have fun!! I wish I was going back right now!!!

I am really excited for EMH!!! I think this will be great, we have no kids so we don't mind staying out late. The only question that I have is what about AK? Does AK stay open til 8pm on its EMH day? What is there to do at AK after the sun goes down? Has anyone expirienced this yet, and how was it? Thanks! :sunny:

EMH late nights were awesome at MK. The parks really thin out after the first hour.
We were the last & only ones on POC before closing, didn't see George though, poo :(
and when we came out, we had Adventureland to ourselves literally! No one was around until we crossed over to Frontierland. Very cool!!!

Thanks for the EMH info - we are definately going to try it in May - We did Enights last year and my DS loved it! So we will give it a shot.

Okay....so EMH is different from e-night. So, did they do away with e-night altogether? And there's no charge for EMH night? This is all new since we went a couple years ago! Please explain!

Kathy, thanks for your info re: pm EMH. I was debating earlier whether or not to rearrange my entire schedule to avoind EMH, but now I will at least give it a try, especially at MK.

Thanks again!

Just a few more days!!  :hourglass

At AK emh evenings consisited of Dinloland, ITTBAB and Kali River Raft ride attractions plus one showing each of Tarzan Rocks and Festival of The Lion King. It lasted until 8:00 and wasn't at all crowded the night I attended, 2/3.

We did the MK EMH evening on Feb 9 and it was just as crowded as it was during non-EMH days. We went only for EMH that day and went again the next day. The only ride we didn't have to wait in line for was Pirates of the Caribbean. There was a 45 minute wait for Peter Pan's Flight and Pooh's Honey Pots. We waited about 20 minutes for Aladdin's Flying Carpets. In 2.5 hours we went on the Haunted Mansion, Aladdin, Pirates, and the Tea Cups and waited in one line for autographs of Captain Hook and Smee. And the line up for the bus back to Pop was unreal. We got in line just after the quene area but by the time we got on a bus, the line was down the street past all the other resort quene areas!

Is AK magical at night? Or is it not worth spending time here? I honestly wouldn't do EMH here to do those rides/shows. ITTBAB spooks DH ( :rotfl: I know!). But I would do it to get a feel of the park at night. Any ideas?!?
