We normally do not do EMH evening hours because my daughter was a bit too young to handle later evenings. But, she is 7 now and will be almost 8 on our January trip. (Yes - planning early - but I can call for ADRs soon!)

Anyway, I am thinking of doing Magic Kingdom evening hours this trip and thought it might be fun to throw in a nice dinner before it. (Park is open until 8pm - so evening hours will go until 11pm) We are staying at BWV - but want something close to MK. I am okay with an expensive place since we always do at least one nice meal - and this one could be it. :) I don't want a character meal. I am very open to a monorail resort restaurant. I would like to watch Wishes in the park, so we would do dinner around 5-6pm ish and then head over to MK. It would be for me, DH and DD7. We love steak, seafood, sushi - pretty open to many different foods.

Based on all of that information - here is the question:

If you could pick any restaurant near MK (or in MK) - where would you go?

I'd say go to Ohana at the Poly! Beautiful view of the MK, great food, and entertainment for the kids! No characters for dinner either!

And can you believe that in 8 trips over the last 5 years, we have yet to eat at OHana? I will definitely put it on the list! Will it be as fun with only 3 of us?

Also - don't get me wrong - we like characters and have done plenty of character meals. But when I asked my daughter if she wanted another character meal this next trip, her response was "Nah. Not so much." So I figure I can cross those off the list until we take my nephew in 2009 - he will be almost 3 then, so she can show him the ropes and have fun with that.

We always eat at LTT before EMH. We love it there - first heard about LTT on this board 3 yrs ago - so happy we did! Since it's a character dinner it would be lots of fun for your daughter (and you) and the food is really good IMO.

enjoy! :goodvibes

Sometimes it's nice to leave and go to a resort if you're staying for a long day ... so my vote would be to head for the hotels.

Given the list of foods you like, CA Grill might be a fun experience. I think the view alone would be worth the cost. Otherwise, I also like Ohana. WCC at the WL is another option. If the weather is nice, the boat ride over is a delight. The food is good, the milkshakes are better, and I even like the campy entertainment.

Yes it will still be fun! Ask for a window seat with the view of the MK when you make your ADR! Take the boat from the Poly to the MK when you head to the park. It's so beautiful!

Thank you guys for all of your hints!

I will admit, I never thought of WCC at WL. We have never eaten there and that might be fun too. We did Artist Pointe one year - and that was wonderful - but the 7 year old would probably prefer WCC.

I love CA Grill - we did that a couple years ago. But, I think I would want to save that for an adult meal. I have to plan one of those too! :)

LTT could work. Again - not against character meals - but even if my daughter says she doesn't want a character meal (claiming to be a bit too old at 7!!) - if we went, she would spend more time waiting on the characters than eating. Then 30 minutes after dinner, she would be saying she is hungry! (I am sure some of you have been there!)

I love making these decisions! What a geek I am! :rolleyes1

is another wonderful choice. Went there for the first time last trip and it was the first one DD asked to return to this year!!

So many choices! I have never tried anything at GF except the character dinner and the Cafe on a hot afternoon for lunch. What do you like about Citricos?

We have tried Kona Cafe and really enjoyed that too. Also did that for a lunch after a long morning at MK. I love getting away from the park to have lunch. Just breaks up the day so nicely.
