MK Easter Sunday

Been reading other posts and am a little distraught. I assumed that being the MK was opening at 8 to the general public, that resort guests would be able to enter at 7. Is this incorrect? How unfair!

It's not unfair. It's a perk of staying onsite, the Early Magic Hour. All the parks have them. Each day, a certain park opens an hour early for resort guests.

However, I read somwhere here that EMH had been cancelled Easter Sunday for MK. I think it's in effect for all the other parks, which is unususal. It's usually only one park per day. This is a special circumstance due to the holiday.

Yes, it is unfair. That is one of the reasons I am staying on property and now it seems everyone can get in early. All the other parks are opening as usual, so it doesn't matter, but when you have three seven year olds, the Mk matters alot and having an hour without the general public was one of my reasons for staying on property!

This usually happens on Easter Sunday and on Christmas Day -- it has for several years. Mostly because there are SO many people going to the parks those two days that Disney tries to spread them out among the four parks early in the morning instead of ending up with one park packed to capacity and the other three picking up the slack. This weekend, the on-property resorts are at capacity, as are most of the Hotel Plaza resorts who also get to partake in EMH. It's entirely possible that MK could close at capacity during EMH, there are so many people on property this weekend. So, in order to help avoid that happening, all of the parks open early on Easter, in hopes that the crowd will disperse some.

Of course, it's unfortunate for you, and you certainly have the right to complain to Disney about it.

But from all the info I've gotten, they say do not go to MK on Easter or the next day. There is a good chance the park will reach capacity early.

I'm heading for Epcot........more spread out.
