I was thinking of doing this with my two DS's. Should we go right when the park opens? Is it usually so crazy and takes too much time??

Any opinions?? Thanks

It's been hit and miss for us as far as trying to figure out the busy times at the barbershop. We still wait in line even if there is one, because it is in my opinion still a unique experience at WDW that most people don't take the time to do or don't know about.

Both DS's get their hair cut on almost every trip. My DD says she either wants a haircut or just some paint/pixie dust next time.

You can always give it a try as soon as you enter the park. It's so close to the entrance you may as well pop over there to see if there is a line.

My 16 yo "baby boy" had his first Harmony Barber Shop haircut in March. I think he agreed to it because I booked the Around the World at Epcot Segway tour for us (which was AWESOME, by the way :thumbsup2 ). We went to the barber shop right at park opening. There were 2 barbers and they each had someone in their chair when we got there. There were 2 others ahead of us in line, so we ended up waiting ~ half an hour. The cut was very good and I believe it was ~ $14. While waiting, we found out that James Gandolfini from The Sopranos (don't know if I spelled that right :confused3 ???) and John Bon Jovi  were both at WDW that week! My son even got a sprinkling of pixie dust as we left pixiedust: . It was well worth the wait.

I took my DS during the afternoon parade! Everyone was watching it, and the barber shop was empty!! :cool1:

Here are two pictures of my son with his new blue gel haircut with pixie dust! I have to say he got so much attention that day. Especially when we sat and watched the parade I think just about every character had a comment for him on his hair! It was a fun day! :thumbsup2

No it didn't stain anything but it does take awhile to dry and does get on the clothing. It takes some effort to get it out too (a good shampoo job). We were finding pixie dust in our hotel room for days. I'd still recommend it 100%!

Thanks. Ok. One More question. Does it stain hair. My daughter has blond hair. Very light. Son has red hair.

My DDs had this done and we didn't find that it stained their hair -- one redhead and one with black hair. It did seem to stain my redhead's scalp though. It took forever for her scalp to not look blue where they put the Mickey. My other daughter didn't have any issue with staining the scalp although it didn't seem her hairdresser put as much paint in her hair. Wouldn't stop them from doing it again though. They loved the attention they got all day from their hairdos. Go first thing in the a.m. Hairdressers told us it is considered an attraction and the wait can get up to 2-3 hours in the afternoon!

My DD's loved the their Disney Doo.

We visited the Barber Shop just before the afternoon parade and it worked out great. No wait and you can see part of the parade in the cool.

The gel was a little hard to get out of their hair before bed, but it was well worth it.

Can anyone give me an idea of a price for a girl's hair? She doesn't want a cut just pixie dust and gel will be fine. Thanks!

The cut and gel/pixie dust was only about $14. Don't know if they charge less if you just want a hairdo and no cut. But as prices go $14 isn't bad for what a cute job they do on the "do"!

thank you all for your help. :thumbsup2

Looks like colored gel and pixie dust for my two boys come November!!! :woohoo:

DD had her first professional cut done at the Barber Shop on 05/05. we went right at opening, and there was 1 little boy being cut. They took us right away.

We didn't get any gel, but had the pixie dust and it was all over everyone all day!! :lmao:

They used a spray of some sort to hold her hair and did a tease to the bun, and I thought "Oh man, THAT is going to be a fight and a half to comb out" But whatever they used, at bedtime I took out the bobby pins and hairband and the brush went right through it, no problem. Her hair was not tangled and soft as silk!

We loved it and will take DS for his first cut there too, and probably get DD the updo again next trip.

Here are her pics:

And the last pic is in my signature.

She LOVED her "tinkerbell" hair. princess:

What a cute picture of your son and Cinderella, scottsod. He looks really unsure of the situation! Wish I could get my DS6 to get the pixie dust.

My DS, gets the pixie dust without the gel. The first few times we went, he just wanted them to put some pixie dust in his pocket (we started before he was one..so this probably started around 2 years). And they happily obliged. Now everytime we go, he opens up his pocket for some pixie dust. They will also just put some spray on his head and sprinkle some on. He is happy to do this. It is funny, every so often, he will dig into his pocket and pick out a mickey and put it on top of his head. I'll have to try and upload a picture and post later.
