Hi all,

We are taking our two girls to MK in April. It is our first time at WDW. We have one full day and plan to be at RD that morning.

Looking for recommendations for best attractions for kids that age. Since we only have 1 day I am leaning towards rides more than character greets (we are going to Chef Mickey's the night before).

I have seen the threads on using a FP. Just don't know if some of the popular rides are too young (ie Peter Pan or Dumbo).

Thanks in advance.

With the possible exception of Space Mtn. (although a lot of pre-teens love it) basically, ALL of 'em.

you might want to rethink the character meet and greets. It is priceless to see your child talking to a princess at that age - at least it was for us.

If you asked our (now 14 year old) daughter - then or now - rides or characters she would pick characters hands down. you can ride rides at any amusement park - the Disney character magic is just amazing!

Hmmm ok. I am sold on the characters. Which are the best? Tales with belle? Other?

Thx!

Enchanted Tales with Belle is a great experience - be sure to either FP it or go there directly at RD. Also make sure they volunteer for parts - it's loads of fun!

You can check Kenny the Pirates site for all kinds of character information.

We find Merida to be wonderful to meet - plenty of personality. no FP

Cinderella and "a friend" (often Aurora - Sleeping Beauty) meet together and you can FP it

Rapunzel and "a friend" (often Snow White) meet together and you can FP them

Jasmine and Aladdin meet in Adventureland

Tiana (and Naveen if you go after 5 pm) meet behind the Christmas Shoppe in Liberty Square (no FP)

I'd say pick out their favorite princesses and plan for those - once there you may find they LOVE the characters and you'll rework your whole plan or they may be happy with just a few meet and greets.

Have fun and take plenty of pictures!

My girls were 6 and 11 when we were there, and their favorite attraction by far was Monsters Inc Laugh Floor. They also really loved Splash Mtn and Mickey's Phiharmagic.

Edit: Winnie the Pooh and Peter Pan meant more to my wife than to the kids.

I think it depends on your kids. Neither of mine (1 dd, 1 ds) have ever been into the characters. We've done a few character breakfasts and waited in a few short lines so they have met some, but they'd choose attractions over characters any day!

If you're looking for some to cross off your list, I'd skip Dumbo, Pooh, Tea Cups, Carrousel, Barnstormer, Tiki, Country Bear, Magic Carpets, and Stitch.

What I did with my grand-daughter (9)
Youtube
and have them choose a few Favorites and book one special Dining experience.
I thought Peter Pan and Tea cups were to young for her but she surprised me after watching the video she
requested them.

Our Plan last year
Breakfast at Cinderella's Castle
Rope Drop
Fantasyland
Peter Pan
Enchanted Tales with Belle
Under the Seas Journey Of the Little Mermaid --Ariel
Mickey's Philar Magic
Tea cups
Buzz
Lunch
Hair cut at Harmony Barber Shop
Off and running again,,ah she is so full of life.

When my daughter was 4 she enjoyed meeting the characters but even then said to me, "I'm pretty sure it's just regular people in costumes" so now that she will be 8 when we go she has expressed a desire to skip waiting in line to meet any characters. I want to do enchanted tales with belle though and we might do a character breakfast even though she has lost interest.

My kids love to look at You Tube videos of rides and attractions. Have them pick out a few things that appeal most to them and make them a priority. I think that looking at the videos makes things more familiar for kids that age and they are more relaxed because they know what to expect.
