Hello,

Going to Disney in April. Been many times but I've never been a first thing in the morning kind of guy, well, we could only get a reservation at BOG for 8:50am. The park technically opens at 9am but there are EMH from 8a-9a. The Disney person said we could go to the gate and show our reservation and get let in by 8 or 8:15am. My question is...what's the park like during that first hour? And, what time do they just let anyone in if the park opens at 9am? Do they let people in early or do they hold everyone back till 9am hits?

Thank you,

DM

5. do they hold everyone back till 9am hits?
1. Yup.
2. Relatively busy in Fantasyland and Tomorrowland (the only two sections of MK open for AM EMH.)
3. A bit before 9AM.
4. Not much before 9AM.
5. Sorta. (They hold guests at TTC/MK parking lot until closer to 9AM.)

That 8am EMH in MK is a gift from the Disney gods! It is typically the least crowded you will ever see MK. You can often get on attractions with little to no wait, including Peter Pan, 7DMT, Space Mountain to name a few. With all of that said, April is a really busy time to go so it may not be quite as "dead" in the park at 8am as it is during other times of the year, but it will still be a great opportunity to avoid long lines at MK.
Have a great trip!!

Are you staying on property and can use the EMH? If so, I would try to get a late brft ADR instead, and make use of that time for rides. If not, then you will be in the best position you can to start the park right at regular opening.

We are not staying on property. The ADR at 8:50am was in desperation, it was all we could get at BOG for our whole trip. I'm kind of glad I'll get a little special time, maybe hit a ride or two on the way to BOG...

I'm pretty sure that even with an ADR, you won't be able to access the attractions unless you're staying onsite.

Once guests are actually inside the AM EMH park, they can ride attractions.

They won't let you inside soon enough for you to ride an attractions or two. We had an 8am for Crystal Palace and we were only let in at 7.55am a few years ago.

The OP's ADR is at 8:50. If they are let into the park earlier, and CMs don't scan Magic Bands at each attraction like they do for PM EMH, they will be able to ride before going to BOG.

I have a question...I hope the OP doesn't mind...If we get to the park at 7:45ish on an 8am EMH (we are staying on property) and chose to drive that day...will the parking lot/trams be opened and running?

The lot will be open and trams will be running.

But, (if you are trying to ATTEND the AM EMH) there may be a problem getting from TTC to MK.
You would likely need to take the RESORT Monorail from TTC to the Poly, to the Grand Floridian, to MK.

If you are trying to ATTEND the AM EMH, I would get to the MK parking lot by 7:30 on an 8AM EMH morning.

I was only repeating what happened to us, that we were only let in 5 minutes before our booking so there wasn't any time to ride any attractions before breakfast. I haven't mentioned scanning magic bands, I was just quoting the short window between possible allowed entrance and the ADR.

Thank You...I guess it might be easier to bus it....if I remember correctly the resort buses start running at 7:00 am?
