MK after hours or Halloween Party

I will be there mid August and it looks like there will be a Halloween party then. Looking at last year, they did have MK after dark (or whatever it is called) during the same time frame as well. I've never been to either, which would you choose and why? Thanks!

I've been to both regular after hours(Aug 2018), villains (Aug 2019), and MNSSHP(Aug 2019 and many other years)

It really depends on what you want from the party. If you are looking for extra rides, regular after hours is your best bet. Villains is great for rides too, but it does cost a little bit more. We liked the villains show a lot and are hoping that this party will be offered during our August stay, also mid-August.

MNSSHP is a lot cheaper, and a longer event (5 hours vs 3 hours). But, we never bother with rides during this event. The shows, special photos, rare characters, parades and fireworks keep us plenty busy.


Since you've haven't been to any of them...I would say MNSSHP should be your first party (unless you are not interested in shows, FW and parades)


For our trip, our preference is #1Villains, #2MNSSHP, #3 regular after hours. I just wish a schedule was available so I could plan and budget

Depends on what your goal is. If you want rides and attractions with less wait, then I would do the DAH. If you want characters, special parades, fireworks and stage shows, and some party only snacks and merchandise, then you need to do MNSHHP.

Thank you! Not sure what I want haha. Just wish everything was out so I could plan. We usually do rides while the firework show is on. I feel like we will get more during afterhours but being able to make a Halloween party is amazing since I work in a school and can only go summers. Maybe I should try for both

I say both.

Although I did both on back-to-back nights one time... DAH first, then MNSSHP. DAH’s low crowds totally amplified MNSSHP’s larger crowds, and not in a good way!

I do enjoy both events though... just totally different value propositions.

If both is an option, I would do it! I hoping to hit AK after hours, MK after hours of villains, and 2 MNSSHP during my trip.

We do MNSSHP and all the AH on our trips, but I will say the Halloween Party is one of our favorite things at WDW. The layovers on the rides, the lighting, the shows and parade are great. Just the shows are well worth the money.
Typically we are not big parade people, but the Halloween Parade with the villains and Haunted Theme is pretty cool.
We've always been able to ride all the rides we want to ride at the Halloween Party and still make all the shows as well. We are park people and typically ride everything multiple times during our park days.
We've done AK, MK and HS AH and they are all great and make our days at the parks much more relaxing as we know we will be able to ride all the most popular rides multiple times.

We have never done an after hours party, but if you choose to try multiple options, maybe try to do mnsshp first so the lines there don’t seem so bad after the short lines at the after party.
