Didn't see this on here yet.

I'm guessing this has to do with the new fastpass "plus" system, or whatever they're calling it these days. It seems like it is for attractions that don't usually have long waits. Oh well, I guess we can let the newbies pull FPs for these attractions, which should, in theory, leave more FPs available for the other attractions where you really *do* need a FP ;). Any thoughts? Also, any guesses about what the two attractions are that are listed by "address" only? --Katie

This idea has been rumored to be coming for a few months now. I agree it is likely related to the next generation FP system, and that the general intent is to increase FP supply park-wide.

I definitely agree on pirates and the haunted mansion having fastpasses because they both have long wait times

1) Well, let's see
. . . they already tried FP on "Pirates"
. . . they already tried FP on "Haunted Mansion"
. . . they already tried FP on "small world" (briefly)
2) This is when Eisner dictated FP on minimum 4-rides per park.
3) So,
. . . they made four in Epcot, DHS, AKL
. . . they made four more in MK, for a total of eight
4) They pulled them out because they were not needed.
5) Now they are putting them back ???

NOTE: Per Einstein, "The definition of stupidity is doing the same
thing over-and-over, and expecting a different outcome."

I was there the week of July 4th, and we didn't really wait at all. They don't really need it. But it does appear like they may have reworked the HM queue well enough that they could add it back if the need to.

Some reports of the "xPASS" system have various other "pluses" at several attractions, not necessarily FPs.

Pirates can get very busy though it all depends on the crowd that is there, but I do agree on both of them getting FP's it wouldn't hurt.

Yeah, Pirates is a tricky queue to handle. A good amount of the time its a very short wait, but there are those two to three times during the day where it gets flooded, both lines full. I personally see no reason to add fastpass, as the double queue is useful to handle the crowd influx.

actually neither do...

if you look at the average wait times on any given day they are usually low on the list.

if you're saying you have to wait an hour on the fourth of july or christmas...then the solution to that is don't go to the magic kingdom that day.

the real measure of wait times is to go during the non-peak times...and if you are there then - pirates always has 10 or less and haunted mansion "13"...or is that just tower of terror?

anyway...the reality is that all rides will receive "fastpass" as they bring a new reservation system online - tentatively called "Disney's Magical Micromanagement Dream Princess Date at the Royal Ball - Yo Ho!" guest experience platform.

:rotfl: Well played, sir.

In all seriousness, by adding FP to almost every attraction, part of me wonders if the whole idea isn't to give guests perceived value that isn't really there. I'm picturing a family of Disney newbies walking into MK with FPs throughout the day for Pirates, It's a Small World, Monsters Laugh Floor and MSEP, and thinking they've really gotten a good deal. In actuality, of course, those FPs are pretty much worthless, especially with a little planning.

I'm not so sure they'd be worthless....

If anyone could do it, I wouldn't put it above Disney's Ability to find a way to make things that work perfectly fine as is today.... and throw some new system in there which completely breaks it's function as it is today and then require you pay to have any sort of experience approaching the way it used to be before Disney screwed with the system.

this is all about disney's desire to eliminate overhead while tweaking the day by day itinerary of the customers - on a person by person basis - to try to allow seemless days with the minimum amount of waste/downtime...

their theory is that it leads to more happiness/ more spending/ more revenue/ higher profit percentages....

people don't wait in lines...they shop, or they eat sit downs when they used to eat quick because they get more done (or maybe even vice versa in some scenarios), or they go back to disney hotels to use facilities...or influx to downtown or other parks...or like me - just get hammered (kidding...but a do love an $11 Eco-tini).

that is also coupled with real time staffing deployment...if you know days, weeks, months in advance whats going to crowded, when - then you can deploy staffing to cover and eliminated the specialized spots, departments, and polyester getups across the park. less workers, more people, happier people - more profit. Exactly what they have worked on with transportation for 10-15 years...better utilization, cheaper.

its genius...and by "genius" I mean "Orwellian"

Did you see the Xpass RFID reader at HM? I walked right past it on the way out on our post PCC days. It was covered with a green vinyl/plastic cover.

...and remember Disney will using xpass to monitor customer/crowd movements and numbers in the park. Those readers along with other hidden readers (like EZTAG/TollTag readers) will be able to read most any RFID device you have in range of the active antennas.

I meant to look for it, but I was still in a daze from the cruise... :)
