Hi, do you see any downsides to flying different airlines to and from MCO? Like flying JetBlue down and AirTran back? Total fares work out well but I'm trained from the old days to stick to one carrier, stay over a saturday night, etc. Any reason not to consider this?

Thanks and Happy New Year!!!

I do it because it is cheaper in some cases.

The only disadvantage is if you have to cancel or change your tickets. There will be a double cost to do that vs just one fee for a round trip ticket on the same airline.

We've done it and it was fine! The only problem was they had to mail us paper tickets - we couldn't just get a ticket by email. And it cost like $15 or so to get them shipped. Other than that, no issues with the airport or anything!

That is exactly what we are doing for our June trip. Flying down on JetBlue from Buffalo and back home on AirTran. Prices and flight times much better doing it this way. We dont see any problems with it at all.

Thanks a bunch. Great point about doubling the fees if we change or cancel, but I can live with that risk to save almost $300.

We are also using two different airlines in order to get the best flight times and save some $$$. Sometimes, it's worth using two different carriers.

I usually fly SWA to MCO and JB back home. It's generally cheaper and both airlines credit the difference if the fares go down after I've booked them. The flight times work out better for me (SWA gets me to WDW earlier, and JB's flight times leave later). Also, by using JB for the return, my luggage is "magically expressed" both ways! :thumbsup2

Hmm. I've been wondering about using 2 seperate airlines myself. I found a great deal on American for our return trip from Seattle in August....but no good flights out there. I was leary about booking seperately but now I think I'm gonna do it. Thanks guys :thumbsup2
