Misty mates. Do you need one?

We are coming 3rd week of August. Yes, we will be hot. But hey, I am hot now in NC! I have read about Misty Mates (personal mister). Do you really need your own mister, or are there enough of them throughout the parks? I just see it as another thing to carry. But, if it means the difference between "hot" and "swealtering" I may bring one.

Anybody got any firsthand knowledge? Are they worthwhile, and if so, where do you find one? Thanks!

We bought nothing inside the park except a counter lunch. and we bought a mister for our daughter. The kids were burning up and the AC in lines was not working on many attractions and the wait time ws very long. My kids tried to duck into the shadow of a decorative tree while in line and got yelled at by a woman telling them not to cut in line (like they would cut in line 45 minutes back?) anyway... I would bring a mister we paid a hideous price of $17.00 for one (and it is the same mister that you can get in Walmart ..nothing fancy)

I think the misters are a life saver! Especially at Animal Kingdom.
I had never seen one until my trip to Disney with friends a few years back. They all laughed at me for buying it but by the end of the first day we were passing it around. We even had "mist" buddies at MGm that we kept seeing who would ask for a quick spray when we were near each other. hehe!

My daughter uses the personal mister. We purchased one for her last June in AK for $20. They said she could refill with ice and water at any stand where they sell them. They come prefilled and sitting is big buckets of ice water. They are the same ones you can buy at the dollar store or KMart. I would think they would let anyone refill regardless of where you purchased. It gets very hot walking through the parks and the cool water definitely helps cool off. Also look for the mister stations they have through the parks. It is temporary relief! :sunny:

We use our MistyMate and it helps to keep us cool. It was not that bad to carry around with us.

I just bought a Mister at walmart. I think it looks great. No spinning fan. It works with the pump and puts out a cool fine mist. The best part is it comes in a zipper bag and attaches around your waist.

It was $13. They had a smaller one that clips on to your belt for $10. But I splurged!

I have the 24oz and it was perfect. And I also found my at Walmat in the Hardware section on an Endcap.

We got one at WDW when we were just there and it was especially great at AK. It seemed so much hotter there than any of the other parks. You can get free cups of ice water and use it to fill them up.

Hey Fellow Misters,

This is going to sound like the dumbest question ever....
I wear glasses :3dglasses , is the mister going to make it unbearable to wear glasses and mist at the same time? If so, did any of you walk around without your glasses?

Also the pricing thing is confusing me. The website listed above has them for upwards of 70.00 bucks!!! Are they really that expensive? Is the thing at Walmart the exact same? I don't know how Walmart could sell it for 13 bucks when it cost 70 dollars on the site http://www.mistymate.com/mmp24deluxe.html
I called my local Walmart and they said they didn't carry them. Who knows though without me actually going down and looking myself.

Please advise. We leave in a few weeks and I'm ready to buy one of these suckers.

Thanks a bunch Disers

Most of my trips to the world have been in the hot summer months. I truly think the misting fans are a lifesaver. They give a few seconds of relief but it really does help. I didnt know that they will fill up your bottle for free with ice water...I will have to take full advantage of that this Sept.

It may seem like an extra heavy somthing to carry around but I have never found it bothersome. I would rather carry my fan around and get some cooling relief during the day than to not carry it and deal with that hot florida sun.

For those who are talking about the ones they sell in disney, those are from Squeeze Breeze. The website tells you all the fine stores that sell them, probably for much cheaper than disney does.

That looks like the BMW of misters :rotfl: I didn't look at that before.

The ones that you get at Disney are just a spray bottle with a fan attached. You may even be able to get that kind at a dollar store.

I think that Misty Mates are a brand name for a small cooler * thermos * size one with a pump in it that sprays a very fine spray with a rubber like hose. These are really really nice. We saw one for $20 at BJ's.

There are also misting fans, which are basically fans with a spray bottle of cold water attached that you squirt yourself with. I have never had too much luck with these but they are cheaper than above.

I bought my mister in the hardware aisle at Walmart. Near the humidifiers, air conditioners etc. I looked on the mister website and mine looks just like the $70 one. It looks identical. It comes in big clear plastic packaging and it looks like a small thermos.

Good luck finding one.

We brought them with us last summer and never even opened the package. Returned them when we got home................. :rolleyes1

I bought some on clearance at our local WM on Thursday last week and only paid $1 each. They're the pump kind and have a belt clip. They were back by the humidifiers; checked for more today and didn't see them.
