Got them at Walmart, Seasonal Section.

For you GTA people, I got them at the Markville Mall Walmart. The Walmart @ Bayview/Major Mac didn't have them (couldn't find them at least).

That's good to know! I went to the Bayview/Major Mac location on Sunday and I couldn't find any kind of fan. I will have to check out Markville on the weekend. I am in need of some portable fans... I can't seem to find the pair I had from my last trip.

I just bought three misty mates on ebay, $8.99 USD each.

These are totted as being able to decrease the surrounding air temp by as much as 30 degrees. They take advantage of evaporative cooling. In order for evaporation to take place, energy is required. This energy is taken from the surrounding warm air which leaves behind cooler air. The mist is very fine and from what they say you don't get wet from it like other misting coolers.

You can buy them from the misty mate site, but they are very expensive through them. Ebay is much less expensive and has quite a few listings available if anyone is interested.

Edit to add: Another bonus to the misty mate is they don't require batteries. They operate by a pressure pump.

I sent Misty Mate an email earlier this week asking about Canadian distributors. The reply mentioned they thought they had a few distributors in Canada, but couldn't direct me to any specific stores.

You can buy them direct from Misty Mate, but they are quite a bit more expensive and their shipping is much higher priced as well. I bought 3 from a seller on ebay for a total of $41.29CAD, buying only 2 direct from misty mate would have been over $50CAD.

Do you know someone that has purchased through ebay? If so, see if they would make the purchase for you.

you can buy them for $7.99 at walgreens or for around $10 at WDW...much cheaper than buying online and paying the shipping...that is if you aren't planning a trip right now.

I got some at Walmart today but they are much smaller than the one in the above photo. I found them in the sporting goods section for $2.97. I bought 4 and will try 1 to see if it is any good. I have a feeling that it will suck batteries in a big way. The tube that holds the water, I am guessing, only holds 3-4oz. The up side is they would not be heavy to carry around.

Just wondering how many batteries this takes and approx. how much water will it hold? It looks really big, will it be convienient to carry?

I don't remember how much water they hold but it does hold plenty. My wife and I didnt get any last year when we went, because they are very large; however if you have a family member that can hold on to them as the kids or family go on rides they are great to have they definetly cool you off and would be great to have. I also know you can get small size fans that do the same thing but couldnt give you any idea where to find them. What my wife and I ended up doing was stopping at a few stations that spray out mist and is air conditioned. After the trip we wished we had got them but again couldnt take them on some of the rides so that is the tough part. Another thing we saw if you plan on getting them and I am not sure if they sell them with it now but if you bring some shoelace or string you can tie it in a loop onto the fan so they don't have to carry it in there hand and possibly loose it, it just fits right over there head and keeps hands free, you can also get away with going on some rides with it on but other rides they will need to come off.

I just bought two O2 cooling mist fans as above - the big blue ones- (photo provided by who's ur daddy?)of these at Walmart but be advised, they are squirters not misters. I'm actually returning them today because as the have the cap at the bottom, both of them leak slowly. I think I'll go the ebay way for the Misty Mates.

I was on the MistyMate website and they list distributors. I got mine at Walmart, but I only had one yellow or one green to choose from. The sales associate said they went fast. I also checked Walgreens, but their summer stock items were thinning. (but you may get lucky, there is a Walgreens on just about every corner!) I paid about $8.99 usd which was still cheaper than the website, plus the cost of 2 AA batteries. Good Luck with your search, hopefully you come across a few!
