Good points all! I'm expecting our October trip will be a bit more crowded than usual, especially in DCA, which has always been a ghost town at that time. We went last year at the same time though, and of course we ran to Star Tours first thing fearing we'd only get to ride first thing in the morning, etc. But while the line to Star Tours was always busy, it was never more than an hour for Stand by, and they didn't stop issuing FPs until the afternoon. So I'm hoping that by that time (like Touring Plans predicts...) it will have settled down to a more manageable level.
I know many are saying it could be busier with the APs finally not blocked out, and there is a little bit of truth to that. But I noticed that mostly in the late afternoon, after school got out. California has some pretty strict attendance policies because the schools generally receive funding based on how many kids are at school each day, so the schools make it a pain to be absent, and most parents don't want to deal with it. So our strategy was to arrive early, get on what we needed to and collect FPs, then come back to those rides later when the crowds picked up. Worked great! And while you may still wait for an hour for RSR, you'll be complaining about the "long" waits of 20 minutes at the rest of the attractions!
