Missoni for Target

Don't feel so bad. I purchased a pair of the heels and it said size 7 on box when I got home I realized they are a 7 1/2, so they will be going back. Considering I saw so many people just grabbing stuff by the armfulls I'm sure that alot is going to be going back. I really liked the shoes lol so sad they're to big. Oh well it wasn't meant to be I guess.

Where are you, I need a 7 1/2! I'll come buy them from you :rotfl:

I went back this morning to look at some more things, and everything I had seen the night before was gone.

:confused3I'm really not understanding the big deal about all this. Won't all these clothes just be restocked?

Unfortunaly it won't be restocked unless they are returns. The reason it became such a big deal is Missoni is an Italian Fashion house that has been big since the 60's there pieces are icnoic and considered timeless. A Missoni dress would usually be upwards of 1k and a scarf going from 160$ to the upper about 600$ so to be able to buy something designed by Missoni granted not the same level of quality but it is from the same desingers and house for under 60$ is big for some of us. The manufacturing quality also was much better then your average target clothing line.

I wish I had read the post about the shoes I told my niece about them last night and she said she wanted them. I would have happily passed them on.

I do wish I would have been able to hit the stores earlier to pick out a few accesories. Again by the time I got there not much left at all.

I was surprised how much my Target had left this morning, given all the news reports. They were putting up "We are not getting anymore" signs though.

There was a good size selection left in several of the women's blouses, a few other random women's items, lots of girls clothing - although all the XLs (my daughter size) appeared to be gone, LOTS of the infant stuff.

The only thing I saw that I liked enough to buy was the girls trench coat. If I could find it in my daughter's size for the $44.99 price, I'd jump at it. But it's not worth more than that to me - she can suffer with a basic grey trench or whatever else is available for a reasonable price, I'm sure it won't traumitize her terribly :rotfl: There's no way I'd pay some of the eBay prices, although I would be interested to know how many of those bids are coming from overseas, where there aren't Targets so even at the inflated prices they seem like a good deal for Missoni.

I looked at the stuff and I guess that it's just not for me. I think it's OK but not all that.

Well except for a certain pair of shoes. If I wore dressier shoes, I'd sure be trying to get a pair that I saw.

Me too. But then again, I'd never even heard of Mossoni until yesterday when I heard about the Target sell-out on the news and then in Target today I saw lots of empty shelf space and the signage. The leftovers that were there really didn't appeal to me. I bet the Junior sized younger girls were going nuts over the clothes though.

It wouldn't surprise me to see them do another campaign given the boatload of money Target must have made in a matter of hours off of it. Maybe Missoni or maybe some other fashion icon I've never heard about. Seems like it was a winning idea for them.

I don't get it but it sounds like the clothes version of beanie babies.
It does say a lot about our society. How sad.

I was wondering the same thing. Last I saw, people were allowed to resell stuff on eBay

I don't think it's abuse either, but if you are willing to pay that much, why not splurge on the real thing and not Target?

Ha. Me neither! It's like the hysteria surrounding an Apple lunch. I am guilty there too......can be perfectly happy with what I've got until I hear there is a must have and it is in limited supply.

I had to run to Target today...normal shopping day. I wondered why in the world it was so crowded....now I know. I saw a sign with Missoni in the girls section when we were waiting to check out and seriously thought it was another Mossimo line....with a slightly different name. I'm so out of the loop though....I guess that's a good thing for my wallet and sanity if people were grabbing stuff off the shelves like crazy. I didn't see anyone with huge buggy loads of clothing or anything....maybe I missed the rush since we didn't get to Target until around noon.

I saw the ads for the stuff on TV. Personally, I thought it was ugly. If I had only saved the stuff I wore in school in the late 60's and early 70's I would be right in style!

Holy cow. No wonder folks are grabbing handfuls of the items. A sleeveless dress is on ebay ending in 11 minutes and the bid is $306. I think it was 39 online.

But who knows if the high bidder actually ends up paying for it. A lot of times recently I watch something which goes too high for me, but then a day or 2 later the seller relists the same thing. I have a feeling there's a lot of non-paying bidders on ebay.

I never heard of it either until one of the sales associates told me how popular it was. The ballet flats I saw were adorable but would be hard to match! I didn't see any clothes at all. Just shoes, boots and a travel tote which I also really liked but thought it a tad pricey!

I first heard of it this morning on the Today show. I guess it's for the fashionistas.

Great move by Target though! I have a feeling they may do this every so often (other designers) to keep people wanting. That's what it's all about. They are very smart to get consumers to give up their hard earned dollars through "limited collections".

There are a lot of non paying bidder on Ebay, believe me I know :sad2:
Or it could be that the seller has more than one of the same item, if you list them at the same time you split the bidders. One at a time you get the action centered on your one item (that a lot of ppl will think it is the only one you have), once that auction is done you can do a second chance offer to your runner up bidder or list again :surfweb:

Wow, they had tons of that stuff (I'm looking at the ads on target's site) in the store this afternoon when I went. I tried on the shoes (they were uncomfortable, so I didn't buy them!), and I wear an 11 so seeing shoes in my size in the store is unusual.

Ironically, I thought it was ugly (it's simply just not my style; I'm sure there are tons of people who love it).
(edit: it being the clothes, I wouldn't have tried on the pumps if I didn't think they were cute. I just happened to be on the prowl for a new pair of dress shoes for work)

I guess I didn't even realize that I was looking at something super special. :confused3

Target has been doing the special limited time designer partnership for at least 5 years. Previous designers have included Alexander McQueen, Rodarte, Proenza Schouler, Liberty, Thakoon, Zac Posen and a score of others. It is an opportunity to purchase designs by some of the hottest designers in the world at a small fraction of the price of couture.

Clearly, the Missoni line was a marketing triumph. Wonder who they will do next?
