I have to admit, I was very nervous about riding this last week but we did it and it really is a great ride. Even my DH, who gets motion sickness on spinning rides, rode it with no problem.

The key is to ride when you are feeling good and follow all of the directions. Look straight ahead, don't close your eyes and remember to BREATHE!!! I could see how it might make you sick if you didn't follow the directions or rode it when you were stuffed from a meal or otherwise not feeling well.

Anyway, we loved it. The kids (age 8) said it was their favorite ride.

We're so scare to ride it!! also i don't want my girls to ride it... :sad2:

If you can survive the Teacups, You can certainly survive MS!!!! :cool1:

Ahhh I'm still too chicken to even think about riding MS. Can someone give me the complete play by play...I am trying (very hard) to get the courage to ride it.

I think half the problem is all the constant written and verbal warnings they give to people. I know they must, but it would worry even the most die hard coaster nut. I would warn off anyone who is scared of closed in places more than motion sickness.

I just rode it this past week and must say it was not bad for me. I enjoyed it quite a bit, but it is not a ride I would do more than once a day. You are put into a seat with shoulder restraints. When the door closes, the front of the capsule comes down right in front of you. Your control panel is within easy reach and the individual screen is right there as well. If you follow directions, you don't feel the motion, but the G forces. It was my eyesight that went "funny" (best word I could think of). It was like my eyesight was a split second behind me, trying to catch up. I think this is where the problem comes in if your head moves. After the ride, I was a little wobblely (not sick) for about 3-5 minutes.

I enjoyed the ride, and would do it again, but it is not a ride like Soarin or Test Track that I would get in line over and over again for.

I agree about all the warnings...they are almost enough to make you feel sick before you step foot on the ride. As far as thrill rides go, we thought this was pretty mild.

Some people really do have problems with the ride, even when all of the suggestions are followed. Unfortunately, it's something you can't know if you don't try it yourself. I was very excited to ride, not worried by all of the warnings, just ready to go flying. The first problem came when the spinning started--and, yes, I did feel it throughout the entire ride. My DS was quite impressed that despite my obvious discomfort I was still able to push the button when prompted! I think that maybe concentrating on "doing my job" was the only thing that got me through to the end of the ride! I had major equilibrium problems, nausea and a dull headache afterwards, and ended up going back to our resort for a nap. What makes me mad is that I really did like the ride--the takeoff was awesome and the story behind the ride is very engaging, and I just loved being briefed by Gary Sinise, one of my favorite actors!

As always, YMMV. My mission has been scrubbed.

:sad2:

So this has been running since the incident with the boy? The newspaper article we read after the accident made it sound like MS would be closed until further notice. The whole family rode it last year and no one had an issue with it, even DH who cannot tolerate Star Tours or the Teacups (he went once and turned a wonderful shade of green :rotfl:) ...go figure..... :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsgirl:

We rode Mission Space on our trip 10 days ago, and it was awesome! Now, I can't handle the teacups any more, but I was determined to try Mission Space, so I took a Dramamine in the morning. Didn't have a bit of trouble; next time, I might try it without the Dramamine (really made me drowsy around lunchtime). To me, the launch on Mission Space was easier to deal with than the launch on Rock n Roller Coaster. :confused3 I couldn't tell it was spinning, but I DID keep my head back and look straight ahead the whole time.

I loved the concept of the ride but would not get near it again. I don't know when I have ever been that sick. I came off the ride and my wife, who had better sense, saw me and knew something was wrong. I was miserable for hours but something good did come of it.......... a while later, while walking thru the France section of Epcot, I threw up all over the place!! :umbrella: :rotfl:

Yes, being the patriotic man that I am, I threw up on France!!!!

didn't love it.

I am what all of my family and friends call a roller-coaster enthusiast--I envy the guys that get pd to do this...

I disliked the take-off, something w/me and G's I guess, the rest of my family thought it was good. I basically freaked (trying to grab something to brace my stomach, I guess)...I dunno. It shows some footage of the shuttle taking off and the straight shot, I guess is what does it...I hate that part!! No, no it is not for me!

My vision felt stressed to where I might get a headache and I did look straight ahead. Almost all of us felt odd afterwards tho', knees were wobbly, heads had dull headaches (I think from the pressure you feel when you're supposedly circling the earth), just felt odd.

But, I had to say I did it, I won't do again...at least, I think not. ;)
