This will only be my 2nd time to Disney World and the first time I skipped Mission Space because I was warned that I would be miserably sick for the rest of the day if I rode. But, I can't help feeling like I missed something.

What do you think?

Certain nausea or can't miss attraction?

It's an attraction that makes some people naseous, and other people enjoy it a lot.

Try the green side, and if it works for you, try the orange side later on.

If you are prone to motion sickness I would suggest staying away from it. If you have ever been on one of those playground spinning marry-go-rounds and felt sick I would definately stay away. I tempted fate and lost that battle.

I get really nervous about rides but I usually end up riding them and loving them. I have inner ear problems and I rode MS on a ride swap since our kids were little. So, I went on without my DH - which was a downer to begin with but, I thought it was a blast. I was a little dizzy (and I mean slightly) right after but I was so amazed by the ride that I didn't mind. As long as you have no physical limitations and like thrill rides, there is no reason to not ride. Remember if you do ride, keep your focus on the screen and follow directions and you'll be fine. It's actually quite neat!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had avoided this ride in years past and finally road the 'green side' (less intense) and it was GREAT! I didn't feel I was missing a thing and didn't feel out of sorts afterward either.

Somebody had said that if you can handle Star Tours over at MGM, than the Green side on Mission Space wouldn't be a problem. I thought that was a great comparison.

So I'd vote for giving the green side a try!

Have fun!

I totally agree... My DD8 and I rode this several times on Sunday and were SO glad that we did. We loved it and didn't think that we were missing out without all of the spinning/G-force.

Just so long as you follow all the suggestions (keep your head back, eyes open and looking forward) you should be okay on the orange side...of course, there are many people who follow every single suggestion and still get sick, so I would agree with the above and say save it for the end, in case you do get sick you won't have ruined your day.

The first time I rode I was afraid I'd get sick too, but I decided what the heck and went for it and I'm glad I did, I love M:S now!

ride it...just don't try to walk to mexico:guilty: and get a margarita or try the beer around the world game!

If you are at all a little hesitant about the ride, I would try the tame version first and then the other if you really want to. These rides usually affect people differently.
This is a definate for my dh and I.

We (self, DH and DS - 9 and timid) were entirely underwhelmed :rolleyes1 by the "green" ride. Sooo glad we had a chance to go back in the evening to do the "orange". If you've ever done Star Tours (MGM and/or DL) you will have no trouble with Mission Space, especially on the "green" team. Then you can decide if you want to try the "real" one.

p.s. The "orange" line seemed to be much shorter both times - I think lots and lots of people buy the hype about how wild Mission Space is.

Agree completely. However, if you're okay with motion sickness, go for Green Team. If you're adventures, go for Orange Team.

If you have a bad back, you shouldn't ride. Also, is it true that Mission Space was the first theme park attraction ever to have barf bags? Do any other theme parks in America have them?

Two points regarding MS
The ride is a glorified spin and puke. These are the old carnival rides that just do one thing, spin in a circle at a really high rate of speed. If you are ok with this type of ride go for it. I am a big time roller coaster fan and have no problem going on the 125 mph, 90 degree drop, 400 foot high rides you find at places like Cedar Point and Six Flags. But my DW and I did not feel well the rest of the day, after riding MS.
The other point I want to make is ...if you are in any way claustrophobic (like me), avoid this ride. When they brought the front of the car towards me and closed me in, I thought I was gonna die. :scared1: Luckily the air blowing in your face helps a little. I still have nightmares about being stuck in this ride because of a mechanical problems.

Take some ginger pills for nausea and try it.

Lots of people who never get sick on rides have gotten nauseous on M:S.

Lots of people who easily get sick on anything have not been bothered at all by M:S.

It's tough to predict who will get sick and who won't, so try it.

TO RIDE!

Go on the Green Version, it's nothing like the real version (no spinning, Gs, etc), so you should be fine. ;)

Couldn't have said it better myself.

I would definitely ride. I ride the green side side now because of motion sickness issues. I have ridden the ride before they had a tame side and it was intense, but I still enjoyed the experience.

The first time I rode it, when it was newly opened, I swore I'd never ride it again. Didn't get sick, but just felt "scared" that I was going to the whole time, and had to use extreme mental tricks just to keep myself from it.

Then they came out with the green line, less intense version without the spinning.

We rode it again on the green line about 2-3 weeks ago, and it's fine. I will admit that I miss the experience of the "true" ride, as the Imagineers planned it, but the less intense version was much better for my body.

Ride the green version first. If you want to experience more, much much more....then take the orange version for a spin. Literally.

DH and I rode Mission Space when it first opened. DH loved the ride and actually went on it three times in a row. I didn't really care for it. I didn't get sick and wasn't dizzy at all when the ride ended, but I did feel a little claustrophobic. I'm not a claustrophobic person, however, you have very little room on this ride. I plan to try the tame version during our upcoming trip.
