ok, so i've been extremely nervous to ride mission: space (original version) after reading of some incidents. so i need to know what it's really like...i mean does it spin the whole time and how "jerky" is it becasue i really don't like rides that jerk you around a lot.

my b/f keeps reassuring me that it will be fine because i'm quite a "thrill rider" . i've also ridden this one carnival ride that is inside, what looks like a UFO, and it just spins so fast that u stick to the wall--and i mean "cheeks sucked into your face" fast (i'm not sure if anyone knows of this, but it sure is popular around here at local carnivals/festivals). he said M:S is probably as fast as that ride, but even better because of all the other effects.

so if anyone who has ridden mission: space can help me out, that would be awesome cuz i would really like to experience it....thanks guys :)

First off, I thought this ride had the best theming of all the rides that I went on during our Sept 05 vacation. I was the only brave one to go on and I have to say that I wish that I hadn't. I thought that I could tolerate any ride, but I guess I was wrong. I followed all of the rules (keep eyes open, look straight ahead, etc..) and I still felt really, really sick the whole day after riding it. I think it is not only the spinning (which, btw, I didn't even realize that I was spinning) that makes you sick. It is what you are watching on the screen in front of you and it jerks around a lot. It was a neat ride, but not worth feeling so yucky afterwards.

It is a lot like that carnival ride that you are describing. Only it's way better! I was concerned the first time, too, because of all the warnings that are repeated while you are in line. You'll do fine as long as you do what they say and keep your head forward and watch your tv screen. It's a great ride and if you like thrills then this is one not to miss!

I second what Mersmom98 said.

I was a little bit nervous before riding too. Then I realized it was just a way better version of the carnival ride. We rode it twice back to back, it was great cause the line was so short!

It's tough to say how any one individual will react to the ride. It basically comes down to how your body reacts to the stimuli. The sensation of this ride is similar to the carnival ride you refer to (which I have ridden and gotten yelled at for flipping myself upside down), but the overall feel is much different because of what you are watching on the screen in front of you.

Personally, I thought the sensations were incredible. I loved Mission: Space. I guess I have somewhat of an iron stomach though, because no thrill ride has ever made me feel queasy. Maybe I'm not the best person to take advice from.

Since they now have a spinless version as well (I believe; someone back me up on this), your best bet is to try that first and see how your body takes it. Then you can decide whether the full experience is something you're up to.

I can't do spinning rides like the Tea Cups....but i went on MS and was fine because you don't feel or see that your spinning you just feel the g forces pushing you back into the seat. There are 4 burts of g forces during the ride....i thought it was allot of fun. But everyone one is different on what they can handle...try it once at least.

If you rode the Gravitron like you said, you will have no problem with Mission Space. I think the actual spinning part is less time then on a Gravitron, and you don't feel the spinning (like the Gravitron), you just feel the pressure on your body as if you are lifting off.

Now, there is part of the ride that is sort of jerky (you basically crash land on Mars, and that is kind of jerky)-- if you have ever done any of the simulator rides, such as Star Tours or that Body ride at Epcot, this is what it is (although, the technology is newer and better than those two, which are older).

You would get the jerky part whether you go on the "older" version of MS, or the "newer" version of MS.

I personally am more concerned about people throwing up in the capsule during the spinning (as I read occurred at least one time) :-)

possibly one of the best rides ever nothing to be scared of those people who had problems also had medical problems that were serious...Just try it you wont regret it

yeah i've never goten sick because of a ride (well just once but that was only because i had just eaten not too long before i went on the ride LOL). but yeah i'll probably give it a whirl. I'm pretty flexible when it comes to rides.

When it gets intense, just take deep breaths. I thought the ride was smooth and incredible. If you're in good health and like intense rides try it once, and if you don't like it, you don't have to go again. I loved it. It was an incredible experience and I would love to see Disneyland get this ride.
